What Song Are You Listening To, Right Now?

You have good taste in music!
Political repression and human suffering often seem to be fertile ground in which art, poetry, and literature really transcend normal convention.
In the USSR, and particularly the Stalinist era, people like Shostakovich, Anna Akhmatova, Solzhenitsyn et al. reached such a transcendent apogee of creativity, that I really do not think there is an equivalent in in the United States, or even most of western Europe, in my opinion.

p.s. I still have a soft spot for Tchaikovsky

Ditto, and thanks.

The U.S./Canada equivalent might be our First Nation artists and musicians, eh? Here is one such just posted on a Native FB group that I admin.

Sounds like a matter of opinion.
You have no standing to even attempt to participate in a exchange about culture, classical music, and Russian composers.

There is zero percent chance you ever even heard of Shostakovich or Prokofiev ten seconds before you read these posts.

Why don't you stick to your comfort zone: Klan rallies and banjo music
