What kind of idiot brings a BABY STROLLER into the passenger section of an airliner?

I don't know if these particular storage doors were latchable or not but who cares? Half the people don't use the latches anyway. THINK

Now you're just playing at being obtuse.

If the overhead storage wasn't latched, they would open up during flight and all the bags would fall out.
Haven't you noticed the stewardess walking down the aisle and checking each door, after everyone is told to put on their seatbelts and prior to take off?

she wasn't following directions?

just didn't know?

overwhelmed traveling with two young children?

Any number of reasons. Bottom line, umbrella strollers get gate checked.

You may have missed my original post...........................

Even umbrella strollers can fit.

This is from the A.A. site...............

Strollers

Each ticketed customer is allowed 1 stroller. Only small, collapsible and light strollers (up to 20lbs/9kgs) can be checked at the gate. Any stroller that weighs over 20lbs/9 kgs, is too large or is non−collapsible must be checked at the ticket counter.

Customers are allowed 1 stroller and 1 car seat per ticketed passenger. Both items may be checked at the ticket counter or one item can be checked at the gate and one at the counter. These items are checked at no charge, when traveling with a child or to adopt.

I don't think any of understand what you are reading.

Your post backs up what I am saying. Checked at the gate means "gate checked". It doesn't mean you take it on board. The gate agent puts a little tag on it and it goes under the plane.

I am sorry you people don't understand what you are reading. But I appreciate you confirming what I am saying.

Then you have to carry the baby to the baggage carousel.

The small light ones CAN be.......not MUST be. The picture clearly shows the small umbrella stroller fitting easily into the overhead.
Who knows though.........maybe the brass will be debating the semantics...probably end up changing both words to MUST.

NO NO NO NO NO NO

you people must never fly

Here is how this works on EVERY airline

1) mommy gets ready to board plane with crumb cruncher and has umbrella stroller
2) mommy shows boarding pass (paper or electronic) to gate agent
3) gate agent tags said umbrella stroller
4) mommy goes down jet way
5) mommy takes crumb cruncher out of umbrella stroller and leaves said umbrella stroller on the jet way
6) an individual from the ground crew takes the umbrella stroller and places it under the plane
7) plane takes off
8) plane flies
9) plane lands
10) ground crew gets umbrella stroller from under plane and brings it up to the jetway
11) mommy exits plane and puts crumb cruncher in umbrella stroller and goes about her business

Mommy does not have to go to baggage claim

You are splitting hairs. Does it say CAN be checked at gate OR put in the overhead? NO

Because no airline lets you put an umbrella stroller on board in the carry on and take up valuable luggage space. Not gonna happen

The gate agent was a major jerk off but mom was over that top

You are wrong and now you are like Rune

She was told she could, and any parent with two kids knows you are better off with one in a stroller. You can bring your stroller onto a flight if it folds and will fit in the overhead compartment, as she was told.

Here's a more updated A.A. release on umbrella strollers.................................

American Airlines:

"Umbrella Stroller: AA highly recommends using this type of stroller. May be taken onboard the aircraft as long as it fits in the overhead bin. Exempt from carry-on allowance and baggage charges. May be checked at the gate

Fully Collapsible Stroller Weighing Less Than 20 lbs: May be checked at the ticket counter. May be checked at the gate. May not be carried on the aircraft. Exempt from baggage charges.

Large Stroller Jogging, Non-Collapsible Stroller or Heavy Stroller Weighing Over 20 lbs.: Strongly discouraged to avoid damage. Facilities were not designed to accommodate these types of strollers. Must be checked at the ticket counter. May not be carried on the aircraft or checked at the gate.Exempt from baggage charges when accompanying a child or infant who is traveling."

Other airlines who will allow this:
Air France
KLM
Qantas

Stroller does zero good on plane and will take up space better used for carry ons

Looks like lots of people are anti airline here on JPP and it crosses political lines. True bipartisanship

You people should take the train or a bus

I love flying. In none of my posts did I offer my opinion of what happened on that particular flight. I only looked up information pertaining to the airline's position of carry on strollers.

Do you have any evidence the airline told her she could bring the stroller on board??? I don't think so. That's just what her lawyer told her to say.

Do you have any evidence, prior to the Neo-Nazi flight attendant grabbing it, where she was told that she COULDN'T bring the stroller on board?? I don't think so. That's just what you're trying to fall back on; because of your failure.
