What food shortages?

The problems go back to the start of trump's war on our trade partners.

People tend to forget the long waits for appliances from China, along with the 20% increase in prices. Likewise for many other products that we simply don't manufacture here. There are still long waits for plastic plumbing supplies. Covid multiplied the China issues.

If you remember, the moment Obama took office, he was blamed for Iraq.

Ironic how trump took credit for many of Obama's accomplishments, and shirked all blame for his own fuckups.

I doubt you believe your own bullshit.

One thing Obama "accomplished" was taking almost every affordable post-ww2 vehicle off of American roads and driveways.

He reduced the number of vehicles that people could afford. The youngers can't buy a 1998 Grand Prix, because the previous owner sold it it for $4k (paid for by taxpayer money) then it was scrapped and the steel shipped to China.

So yeah, he killed the used car market and subsequent support industries of that. (mechanics, body men, detailers, auto parts suppliers)

All in one big Bah Fongula to America. And you ate that shit and loved it.

Because that's just how stupid and partisan you are.

LMAO

So you are crying because Obama reduced the fuel consumption in the nation?

That's the best you can do?

He reduced greatly the number of affordable cars for Americans. He is a traitor. I'm not crying at all, fuckstick. I'm actually ready to do what it takes to keep shit like that from happening ever again.

Sure, Dickface: Less cars that people can afford in the nation=less fuel consumption. Also=less mobility to get to jobs and recreation (especially for young ones). Also= less production.

You fuckin' Commie twat!

And now they're pushing people to buy electric cars, with hella less touring range than a 1980 Toyota Tercel with a 5-speed. 38 miles to the gallon.

Sorry, but I don't see all this as "Progress"

I see this as undoing the innovations of the 20th century.

I had a friend in high school, I liked the dude; The car his parents made him drive to school was considered "not cool". It was a 1968 AMC Rambler Station Wagon. With an AM-only radio.

Do you even know what a station wagon is, boy?

LOL. I see you're drunk early today.

Cash for clunkers got a bunch of rusty old gas guzzlers off the road. Anyone who had an older car that was worth money still has it, you idiot.

My buddy drove his mom's Rambler to school before they got their Subaru.

That was before anyone ever heard of a Subaru.

We had numerous station wagons when I was a kid. New car every year, as dad was a Mopar salesman.

The result of cash 4 clunkers is that affordable vehicles disappeared from America and left a giant hole in Uncle Sam's wallet.

Such as?

On the pasta / noodle isle yesterday, the shelves were over half empty and none of the better brands usually available were at our local grocery store. That's a basic food item.

1980 Toyota Tercel...1968 AMC Rambler Station Wagon.

Cash4Clunkers only covered trade ins, and cars that are less than 25 years old. Given that is all happened in 2009, it only covered cars made after 1984. Both the 1980 and 1968 cars were not effected.

It replaced 690,000 older cars with newer cars. That is less than in a normal year, so saying it killed the used car market is crazy. If it killed the used car market, then a normal year kills the used car market far more.

It was 13 years ago, so is not effecting things today. What is effecting things today is the decision by many American car makers in 2020 to cancel their computer chip contracts. This was not a money maker for the computer chip manufacturers, so free of a contract, they decided not to bother renewing the contracts later. That decision was run by the trump white house first.

I saw things like that in 2020, but have not seen anything even close in the last year or so.

"It's the end of the month, which is the hardest time of the month for many families. Studies show adults with food insecurity will skip meals or reduce their portions to provide for children in their homes as they wait for pay day. Many food insecure families do not qualify for the assistance of food banks, or are hesitant to turn to food banks for assistance due to the stigma. One "bad month" can be enough to plunge a household into food insecurity. Lay-offs at work, unexpected car maintenance, unforeseen medical bills, or an accident on the job can suddenly force a family to choose between buying food and paying bills. This is the purpose of our project- to bridge this gap. Thank you for your ongoing support."

That is not food shortages. Why would food shortages happen at the end of the month? That is money shortages. It is a very different beast. The shelves are still full of food, they just do not have the money to buy that food.

Once again, I have plenty of money. I go to the store, and have no problem buying almost any kind of food I want. I have been eating out a little too much lately, and am gaining weight. I am trying to cut down; I do not want to end up a lard ass like Stone.

There are food shortages and money shortages...I didn't realize you knew anyone personally here...interesting...;) If you're eating out, you do have plenty of money.... If your stores are stocked, I can give you a list of items most needed...you can head over there and help out the less fortunate in your area by filling up the local little pantries...which I'm sure you have...It's a great project to do with the kids, btw....

Well, it was that way the other day here at the grocery store. The commissary on Luke AFB was that way on a lot of things when we shopped there a couple of weeks ago. Part of it was bulk buying I know, but some of it was simply their not getting shipments regularly or on time. One of the workers told me that.

OK, so you live in a part of America where there is widespread food shortages, and people are starving to death. And I live in a part of America where there is more than enough food, and people are having a problem with obesity. Hmmm... Doesn't that mean your section of the country is failing?

I think that's hyperbole rather than accurate. There are obviously shortages of some items on shelves that normally would be stocked. It isn't as if we're in a food line--yet. What it argues is that policies by politicians are in good part responsible for these issues, and in Arizona's case, those politicians are mostly Democrats in California and Dirty City.

California Democrats are mostly responsible for the difficulties in getting stuff out of their ports. They are responsible for making it hard for trucking firms to even operate in the state. They are responsible for the losses on trains where criminals are stealing huge amounts of stuff being shipped. They are responsible for the high cost of doing business in that state.

Likewise, Joke is making things hard at the national level by making even getting a commercial driver's license more difficult. He's making it harder for potential drivers to get jobs. How? Through regulation and over regulation.

Then there's Mexico increasingly supplying the US's needs in produce. That too is a problem given that Mexico is an unstable narco-state.

Literally, the last time I saw a food item missing, it was two months ago, and it was the cheese for movie nachos. The movie theaters had opened up so quickly that movie nacho cheese had not caught up.

I go to the grocery stores, and there is plenty of food. The restaurants have more than enough food, but have real shortages of workers. I see plenty of restaurants unable to stay open as they have staff shortages.

I've seen a little of shortages at restaurants too. Specific items on the menu might not be available. It isn't like they're out of lots of things, but rather one or two items here and there that make it annoying if that's the item you wanted to order.
