Were school boards always politicized?

When I was in high school, years ago, never heard of such controversies.
I was a good student, did my work, then went off to college.
Can't remember ever having controversies by school boards with political agendas.

Once long ago the kids came first.....the best interests of the kids is what was pursued....people did their best to not let politics get in the way...and no one was driving for UTOPIA.

I paid attention in class. Did my homework. Never heard about political battles.

I did pay attention in class but not did homework.
Too much happening on the street or when i was older the scene to go home after school
You must have been too young for "political battles" but good for your study habits

School boards were long ago taken over by the WOKE while doing everything they could to make sure that parents and the rest of the community did not find out.

We were abused.

Did my work and moved on. Honestly, I hated high school. I loved going to college!

But then have time to go to meetings to get superintendents fired?

A small number show up at such meetings, and they either by fortune have, or make, the time to do so. Also, school boards meet on a regular, but not daily, basis whereas homework and learning for students is daily.

I didn't take anything they said seriously. Only in college and studying history did I get to the truth.

I think it depends on where you live. Wokeness was slower to reach some areas

They have always been political where I’ve lived.
