Can't say I love the idea. I believe in trying to make abortion a rare occurrence.

But I don't think it's a good idea to get nuanced about preserving the right in the 1st trimester. Abortion should be safe & legal for any woman within that timeframe.

Policies that work to make abortions a "rare occurance" is something that those who are anti-abortion obviously support. Policies that cause the number of abortions performed to rise are obviously not anti-abortion. We know that unrealistic policies such as "just keep your pants zipped" do not work and that educating our young and providing birth control have caused the number of abortions performed in this country to drop drastically. Now with the recent push to defund groups such as Planned Parenthood that worked to provide that education and birth control we are seeing the number of abortions in this country once again rising after three decades of it steadily going down thanks to what can only be described as the pro-abortion right.

You have no right to force a girl to give birth to a baby that can be malformed, or a terrible burden to a person's life. Abortion has financial and equal rights implications. It can impact a family's wealth and even the ability to survive well. That is a price a girl pays.
Again, if you are really against abortion, you can cut them back by setting up funding to support a child that a family knows it cannot support. Provide, food, healthcare, and education then a girl may decide she can handle a kid. Just saying I do not believe in abortion, therefore you should not have one is repulsive. You are imposing all the hardships on a girl and then walking away.

Republicans keep inching closer and closer to no abortions at any time under any circumstances. They can't help themselves. They are driven by and subservient to the extremist vote. Basically, just like with gun policy, Republicans are in the process of shooting themselves in the foot and then trying to march forward. Where to, they have no idea. They have no vision.
