“We should elect the president the way we elect governors, senators, mayors, representatives, everybody else – whoever gets the most votes wins,” Raskin said. “We spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year exporting American democracy to other countries, and the one thing they never come back to us with is the idea that, ‘Oh, that electoral college that you have, that’s so great, we think we will adopt that too’.”

Every vote in local governments, organizations, unions, and any class goes by majority rules. We call ourselves a democracy. We should become one.

The President represents all citizens of the United States of America. Should not matter what state you live in to vote.

Why? Why should we want just 6 or 7 states, and the handful of large urban areas within them to dominate national elections?

No, we are not a democracy. We're a constitutional republic. A pure democracy is a horrific system where one's rights and life is subject completely on how the majority of people feel about you and your racial, social, religious, etc. group, where the majority can oppress the minority with ease.

We are a democracy, which means rule by the people. No nation on earth has ever even aspired to be a pure democracy. False problem.

No, we are not a democracy. We are a Constitutional Federal Republic. Quite different.

Oh, and as to your lie about a pure democracy, Athens would like to have a word with you, you dumbfuck. As would the Cantons of Switzerland.

It is a concern, however, point of a democracy is to represent the citizenry, and the vast majority of Americans do live in a handful of large States and urban areas.

Not entirely true, we are a Democratic Republic, we vote democratically to select our representatives in that Federal Republic

we have small states and very large states. Our forefathers realize in prefer for small states to have a say and electoral system would work better. And I will remind you that the Senators that you mention are elected by a disproportionate system meaning one man’s vote in one state does not carry the same weight in every other states.

So it's better for the minority to oppress the majority? That's how we lost Roe.

States don't vote. People do. Why should someone's vote count less just because they live in an urban area?

Also, If you vote Republican and you live in California or NY, your vote won't matter. Millions of Republicans votes don't matter because they live in California or NY.
Same with Democrats in Texas.

Right now, with the electoral college, a candidate can win the election by just carrying 12 of the larges electoral states. You think that's fair?

I have yet to hear one valid, convincing argument for the Electoral College.

Wrong, we are a Constitutional Federal Republic. We do not directly elect our President, for example, and it's only relatively recently that we began to elect Senators directly.

No, you lost Roe because Democrats had fucking nearly 50 years to pass a law protecting abortion federally, and failed to fucking do anything because the topic of abortion and the bogeyman of Republicans coming to take it away was too good of a fundraising and support raising issue to actually do anything about.

We do sport. The one who gets the most votes in a state gets that states electoral votes, (yes some states divide the electoral votes). So in presidential elections through history the winner also won the popular vote with minor exceptions.

So you just hate Democrats. That's why you're so fucking irrational. You're only against being oppressed by a minority if it's your fellow wing nuts doing it.

Also, suck my dick, loser.
