"We keep marrying other species and ethnics " - Fox News Host

A saint has no standing at all with me. This magic-man decides when souls are assigned to human life? Insane that somebody from the left is now arguing from the position of the words of a magic-man rather than a position of science.

We should do it your way because your magic-man tells you that it's okay? I don't think so.

do it my way because it is the law... that would be fine.

pimps want to get all jiggy with religious references, I merely shoved one back up their ass..... you, who don't not believe in saints need only believe in the law.

as I recall, Aquinas was of the opinion that the body was provided by the mother's egg and the soul was provided by the father's semen.....I find that weighty approach a bit heavy handed, myself.....perhaps one might question what Aquinas' opinion on ensoulment might have been if he had the scientific data on genetics that we have today......

Probably zero. Biology does absolutely nothing to vindicate the anti-choice position, and it is intellectually dishonest to pretend it does.

How do you know there is a soul? Why are you making such a fantastic claim without any proof?

So is a baby born without a brain.
Some are, unfortunately. And I wasn't the one who laid claim to "when" a soul hits the human embryo, or even if a soul matters.

It's your side who are claiming the richness of power invested in a magic-man to show it is okay to make laws as they want them, not mine.

We do it "your way" because it is the law, but that doesn't change that we believe the law should be changed, nor stop anybody from working towards that change.

If you had your way:

1) Would you have abortion be illegal at any stage, and for any reason?

2) Would you make exceptions in cases of rape & incest?

Also, how would you prosecute such offenses, if they were illegal?

Do you believe that doctors who remove the feeding tube from babies born without brains are murderers?

no, no more so than those who discontinue life support to an aging man who's brain wave activity has ceased......however, that doesn't mean that either of them weren't human beings of equal worth of the doctors......

Not particularly, it seems they would be going to great lengths to save a life. I've never thought that one must save every life regardless of its ability to ever maintain any ability to live. I do believe that the potential for a good life is exemplified in an implanted embryo, and until you know that such a genetic flaw exists there is no moral reason to kill that innocence.

It has always been my position that directed killing should never be the goal of a doctor when dealing with potentiality. It would be better to remove the embryo with the intent to save its life rather than kill it.

The woman should not be forced to incubate, the embryo should not be forced to die because somebody deems it inconsequential based on the opinion of maineman's magic-man.

I'm willing to permit abortion to save the life of the mother and in instances of rape and incest if you're willing to stop abortions in the other 95% of cases......

go for it... and when you get the physicists to agree that the world is flat, and revolves around the sun, let me know, will ya?

1) If I had my way abortion wouldn't exist because the intent to kill would be gone, there would be something else entirely in play that would allow the woman to make the choice not to incubate but that would not purposefully kill the embryo. The only logically moral reason to kill the embryo would be if it would instead kill the mother.

2) I would not, the life is not worth less because of the actions of its biological father or mother.

interestingly, we could as easily accuse those who deny the humanity of the unborn as being the equivalent of the flat earthers.....and of course, maineman, since it's you....we could do it with more credibility......

Okay, you're dealing in fantasy with the 1st response. You said you're working to change the law, but the scenario you describe does not exist.

That's a truly gutless answer. I imagine that you know full well the implications of "changing the law," but try to cover your own arse with some sort of make-believe scenario where everything turns out alright for everyone...yay!

the problem is, you do not speak for the pro-life community... if you did, and they all shut the fuck up because you made that deal, that would be marvelous.....

but we know that even if they promised they would, they'd lie and start going after that other 5% before the ink was dry.

well certainly it is true that you have the advantage.....if, like you, I was able to speak on behalf of all who think like me it would be easier to seal the deal....of course we both know.....there are very very few who think like you........

It can, and if we did it instead it would. If it was the only legal recourse it would indeed exist in reality rather than in fantasy.

You are being disingenuous now, you know full well we could remove the fetus with the intent to save its life now, if that were the intent rather than to kill. There is no fantasy. In reality many of these fetuses would die until we became capable of saving those lives. But once we were capable of it real choice would exist for women rather than solely the "choice" to kill or incubate.

and of course we know, that there are few enough that think like YOU that you will ALWAYS be on the outside looking in at Roe v. Wade.

sorry.

suck it up.
