WE ARE AT WAR and moderates could lose this election AGAIN

You're not exactly a computer guy, are you? Have you made use of email yet? It's amazing! You don't even need a stamp.

:) You are very smart. (I have 'cool stationary' that I use to write Letters and have a roll of stamps (a roll of 100 in a plastic dispenser).

PS: Can you parse out a sentence from a paragraph, or do you have to "Wrap Quote Tags" around the entire paragraph?

Robert Olsen, then a 7-year veteran of the DeKalb County Police Department, fatally shot Anthony Hill in the parking lot of his apartment complex.

A former Georgia police officer was found not guilty of murder Monday in the 2015 shooting death of an unarmed Air Force veteran.

Robert Olsen, who was a seven-year veteran of the DeKalb County Police Department when he shot and killed Anthony Hill, 27, in the parking lot of his apartment complex, was cleared of two murder counts.

He was found guilty of one count of aggravated assault, one count of making false statements and two counts of violation of oath of office, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney.

Olsen had responded in March 2015 to reports of a resident at the complex knocking on doors before undressing and crawling on the ground naked.

Olsen is white, and Hill, whose family said he suffered from bipolar disorder, was black. The shooting set off protests in DeKalb, and Olsen was charged in January 2016. At the time, DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said Olsen had lied, saying Hill had physically assaulted him before he fired his weapon, while in reality, Hill was shot before he had a chance to reach the officer.

Prosecutors said during the trial that Hill was having a mental health crisis stemming from his bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from his service in Afghanistan, and posed no threat to Olsen the day he was shot.

Former officer who killed naked, unarmed veteran sentenced to 12 years in prison

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Former DeKalb County Police Officer Robert “Chip” Olsen was sentenced on Friday to 20 years, with 12 to serve in prison for shooting and killing a naked, unarmed, mentally ill military veteran.

Last month, a jury convicted Robert Olsen in the death of Anthony Hill but found him not guilty of murder. On Friday, Olsen learned his sentence.

Judge LaTisha Dear Jackson imposed the sentence after an emotion-packed hearing that lasted more than three hours. Her decision brings to a close a case that has lingered for more than four years and has been watched closely as a test of police accountability.

Indeed justice was served in the murder of Anthony Hill .. but why was justice served ..

PROTEST and OUTRAGE

Yes. I just don't need to disparage where I live every day as you seem to. I wonder how many dirty hippies from the summer of love
are still alive, let alone in mansions in the Berkeley Hills. Man I could go for a slice of Zachary's pizza right about now.

Can you smell the smoke from the fires?

It's funny to me you consider what I said disparaging. It's just reality. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense for me to talk about somewhere like Tampa, FL which I know nothing about. The discussion was inequality and that's what I was speaking to. I understand everyone wants to focus on the Presidency, winning elections and political power but the battles over housing, as one example, occur on a daily basis and have an effect on opportunities in the country.

The air has been bad. Drove to Tahoe the other day and was bad along the way as well.

If democrats truly believe this is the most important election in our history, I suggest that they/moderates hurry up and get on the right side of this history instead of trying to play both sides of the fence

I spend a lot of time in SF. I didn't know that story you just told, but it doesn't surprise me. I live mostly in NYC and the Denver area, so believe me, I have seen the phenomenon you're describing up close and personal.

Years ago, the Denver airport had to be moved out of the city for a variety of reasons. When deciding where to build DIA, no one wanted it anywhere near their homes. So the various governments dropped it in the middle of a field more than thirty minutes away from Denver. Over the past twenty years, that field has been developed into mile after mile of homes, hotels, restaurants, etc. People who literally built to the airport have started complaining about the noise and other impacts of the airport. The people who forced the airport out of the city to protect their own property values complain about the traffic and length of time it takes to get to DIA now. Somewhere along the line the vast majority of us forget what it means to be self interested and instead just become selfish. What's worse than being selfish is being, in the case of the pro-immigrant/anti-multi-family housing woman and the airport protesters, is being selfish and hypocritical.

I know Denver has had a lot of growth and a decent number of people have moved from the Bay Area to Denver (I think that's played a role in helping CO turning from red to purple and now more blue). My sister went to Boulder and I remember flying into the Denver airport thinking it was a long way away from the City and my recollection was there wasn't a whole lot in between the airport and Denver so it's interesting, and probably not surprising, to hear it has been built out like you described. And of course funny to hear those people you described now complaining.

Once you hit the 'reply' button, you will notice that the text you are quoting is 'wrapped' in quote tags.

quote and /quote wrapped in brackets. This creates the box. You can do it manually, or you can use the icon. In fact, when you start to separate a quoted comment, it starts with {quote=Jack} That puts your name on the quote. That's already done by Vbulletin. So the first part that you want to separate only requires you to put the /quote at the end, adding the brackets. I've deleted the brackets because it would automatically put everything I've typed between the

:) Thanks. I'll give it some practice.
(I am used to just typing the person's Username and then C&P the portion of text I want to reply to)

OK. I'm going to 'Wrap Quote Tags' around your "If you want to practice, just put" ... and then click 'Post Quick Reply'.

I corrected your post by removing extra quote tags, and adding others. Part of the problem was my fault, because there were quote tags around your name when I explained how to use a name with tags. These tags are sensitive suckers. Any time you have a set of tags, it separates the post into a box.

Every post that you want to separate starts with {quote} (I purposely didn't use brackets) and ends with {/quote} Sometimes the brackets get screwed up, and people have several posts that are off kilter. Correcting them is easy. Just make sure there aren't extra quote tags where they don't belong.

I also employed the 'multi quote' button in this post to illustrate it's use.

And ... not quite what I was looking for. :(

You can quote this post, and look at how the quote tags are placed. That should give you an idea of what every post has to look like. Also...until you get the hang of it, always use 'go advanced'. That gives you the option to 'preview post' before you submit.

Hire Black Cops to Patrol/Respond to black neighborhoods.
(as far as the typical mixed neighborhood, ... ?)
I've been saying that for years. The police force should match the local demographic. Some who scream 'racist' about everything claim that black cops fall right in line with Whitey. I don't believe that is true for all black cops. Not at all. We have an extremely diverse police force here. We never have black men being shot by cops. Ever. Unless there is a shootout between law enforcement and criminals.

Thanks for the welcome. I haven't looked around enough to form an opinion yet, but I have high hopes.

Yes, most older people are by definition the enemies of progressivism. It doesn't help that older people tend to be much more politically active than younger people. They control the political parties and keep reelecting incumbants because well, old dogs and new tricks. Add to that the influence of money and I think the American political system is utterly broken.
We're starting to see a lot of younger people running for office. I think once the median age in Congress drops about 20 years, more younger voters will take an interest.

There have been instances when I just rolled my eyes and did whatever some prick cop told me to do without cause because I just needed to catch up to my friends and didn't want to be beaten to death in public, but that's the point. They shouldn't be able to act that way. The only reason they're being held accountable for the first time in American history (sometimes) is because every citizen has a camera in her pocket now. They were never given the right to terrorize us. They were never given the right to abuse the authority we let them have and abuse the people they're supposed to serve. They exceeded their social contract. They recruited racists and punks with chips on their shoulders and small dick syndrome. They gave those people guns and set them loose on our streets. They corrupted the culture of law enforcement so that bad actors were never held accountable for unspeakable crimes and good actors were forced to be silent. Compliance should be voluntary and just, not just the only way to avoid being murdered.
Agree. Before smart phones, their body cams always seemed to 'malfunction' whenever they were committing crimes against humanity.

This is not a new phenom. It's just being recorded now. Police departments always look for ex military. And THAT's the problem. Our streets are not a war zone. It's time to stop hiring roided out ex military to patrol our streets.

Be nice. I still remember learning all the wonders of Vbulletin when I joined my first board...Maher.

I'll never forget when (I believe) Michellemichelle pointed out a few features to me.

Hey...any time they want to blame the deceased, I remind them that Dylan Roof was not only taken alive, but taken to a burger joint on the way to being booked for murder.

I'm surprised it made it to trial. When Eric Garner was strangled to death by a cop in NYC, the racist Staten Island grand jury (where most cops live) refused to send it to trial.

That's common. Or, the jury will refuse to find for the prosecution.
