WE ARE AT WAR and moderates could lose this election AGAIN

BAC: "They will vote for the same person they voted for in 2016 ... nobody. This is about demand, not acquiescence to power. It’s about the recognition of your own power and how to use it."
Jack: That's called 'cutting off your nose to spite your face'.

.
BAC is going to vote Biden. His rhetoric here seems to claim that nobody else learned from '16. Will Harris signal something to the black community enough to inspire them to vote against trump?

awesome Jack... such a profound rebuttal to what the judge said

The AG should be 'Black' just to give confidence and reassurance to Minorities that 'racism' won't be tolerated. It means a lot.
You see Black women pretty amped up over Kamala Harris, right? It's a perceived 'shared' background.

Fuck off and die.

You all will never be above the law and you'll never be able to just walk into other people's property and take whatever you want with no repercussions.

I know that's your dream but you'd best just forget about it.

The law already allows people to shoot when you enter their homes uninvited.

Keep this shit up and it won't be long until it allows store owners to shoot when you come in and try to walk out with an armload of their stuff without paying for it.

TTQs is a voice I want to hear.

I will vote for Biden as well my friend. But I am fully aware of how democrats can lose again even in the face of the trump horror show and all that we see in front of us. Failing to address the concerns of the Left and ignoring progressives is snatching defeat from the jaws of wghat should be an easy victory.

I speak to a lot of young black voters and progressives of all stripes, all colors. They are not happy with the status quo, not happy with centrists and moderates. That should bea relatively easy fix. All it requires is will and respect for a generation that will ultimately inherit the reigns of power anyway.
Yes. But they don't understand the concept of baby steps. The youth, that is. John Lewis saw so much positive change in his life, but also saw that we aren't getting closer to 'good' under this moron in the White House. Can you imagine his satisfaction in '08?

Those who refused to vote because they 'aren't happy' in '16, helped to send us right back to the 1950s. Do they see their folly, or do they not care?

I'm brand new to this site, but I think I'm going to like your contributions.

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I've noticed you touch on two issues: 1.) Progressives settle for a Democratic party that doesn't embrace them. 2.) All good people need to support the Democrats this year because the Republicans cannot address racial reality.

I agree with you on both points. If the Democratic party is supposed to be the more liberal of them, then it needs to start addressing progressives and millennials. It's an old legacy party that operates decades in the past at all times.

Racism never went anywhere. It was pushed into the closet for a long time. The age of Trump welcomed racists out of their closets and into mainstream American culture again. There can be no equivocation for supporting people and a party that sanctions, adopts, and encourages racism. I resist ever viewing political matters as good versus evil, but in 2020, there can be no doubt. No good person can support Trump and what he stands for; and every person who supports Trump and what he stands for is not a good person.
Welcome to our sewer.

I think we really need to get the octogenarians out of office first. It's time.

And I'm old.

Everybody should vote for Biden. Trump is a lying sack of shit.
Yeah. Usually the VP is picked for what 'electorate' they can bring with them.
(But, in this case, she may become the next President)

Do you think Michael Brown, Alton Sterling, et al could have learned something from you? I hope you're not teaching kids to resist arrest or attempt taking the cops gun while he's in his cruiser.
Common sense tells me that I'll comply with anybody pointing a gun at me whether it's a cop or a robber or a friend. Anybody.
I'll comply with an unarmed cop for that matter. It's just common sense.

I was once stopped by cops on a dark street in the French Quarter because I was running to my parked car. I guess they suspected I was guilty of something because I was running. I got to my car, locked the door and they banged on the window ordering me to open up. Believe me I was scared shitless.
The last thing I do is try to drive off or resist. I opened up, they searched my car, a let me go after a few questions. Where were you, why were you running, etc. I hope that's what you teach. Glad I don't need to be taught that.
And I would do the same.

Black people routinely make the mistake of believing that all will be well if they do, though. History proves otherwise.

You let cops search you car with no cause?

I would never make such a stupid mistake, not even "scared shitless".

Based on my life experiences, this is a bit naive... Again, just mine. A cop knows when his arrest is clean
or pretext, and he also knows he may not charge you. But he can damn sure ruin your night and have you calling bail bondsmen
whenever the fuck he wants. I kneel and comply, kiss the ring, and with luck nothing becomes of my misdeeds.
I go all 4th amendment vocally? I'm fucked.

I generally agree with OP. Joe Biden was not my first choice. Or second, or third. The party needs to become more progressive, and a small shift left cannot possibly undo the damage of 40 years of wages and wealth flowing to the rich. That being said, we are in a unique situation, and the number one goal of anyone left of Rush Limbaugh should be removal of the stench in the White House. I'm willing to use this time to grease the wheels for the next step. Because there will be a next step. 2020 will be looked back on as the watershed moment, the moment that we recognized how flawed our social system has become. The patient needs to completely change their diet, but right now, we need a defibrillator.

It gave some kind of reassurance that the 'Top Cop' could see that 'Justice' was carried out without racial bias.
There was progress being made. Then, Hillary didn't 'inspire' some to vote.

The Trump administration has dismantled key federal tools for imposing accountability on police forces engaging in systemic racial discrimination, severely hampering efforts to heal the wounds of the police killing of George Floyd and the ongoing protests convulsing the country.
Under Donald Trump, the US justice department has allowed federal mechanisms designed to impose change on racist police agencies to wither on the vine. As a result, law enforcement agencies that practice racial profiling, use excessive force and other forms of unconstitutional policing are now free from federal oversight.

The most important of those tools, known as consent decrees, were deployed extensively by the Barack Obama administration in the wake of previous high-profile police killings of unarmed black men. They included the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014; 12-year-old Tamir Rice in Cleveland, Ohio, that same year; and the 2015 death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Maryland.
Under Obama, 14 consent decrees were enforced upon troubled and discriminatory police agencies. By contrast, none have been issued in the more than three years of the Trump administration.
So the question remains...has anyone learned about making a political statement, or not?

I agree with this, because, frankly, I'm a white guy. I don't fear a traffic stop. I know I'm driving away, and I don't really care if the cop shines a flashlight in my car. Of course I haven't been stopped in years. The last time was in a rural redneck area, the cop claimed (falsely) that I hadn't signaled a lane change, and he was hoping for a nice DUI stop. I had a friend in the car that was pretty lit, so of course the alcohol smell was immediate. I got out, let him shine the light, and would have even submitted to field sobriety but he quickly realized he was gonna get nothing out of it, and away I went.

--->Trump being elected<---
If THAT doesn't motivate people, then we deserve what we get.

I think part of it was that EVERYONE thought Hillary was a shoe-in. No one expected FBI Comey to come out and say Hillary was under some kind of investigation 8 days before the Election. I think THAT was the game-changer.
Plus, I'm not sure Bernie 'had a seat at the table' with Hillary. With Biden, Bernie (and others) will 'have a say'.
Without question. There are dozens of separate issues to be discussed in retrospect.

Many got complacent, for the reason you cited. But everyone was warned when the race got closer. The Supreme Court was at stake. Hundreds of Fed judicial appointments were at stake. ACA was at stake. The list goes on.

Bernie might have had a seat at the table. I don't see why he wouldn't. He didn't do a very good job of accepting the results of the primaries. And he only did a perfunctory job of addressing the kids who were counting their free tuition dollars.

Bottom line...despite being the most qualified to lead the nation of any candidate in the race, people simply hated Hillary. Almost as much as they hated trump. Truly an odd election cycle.

The question remains. Will Democrats and Independents recognize the impending doom if they refuse to back Biden?

I think so.

TTQs is a voice I want to hear.

To each his own.

Personally I'd rather hear honest voices speaking the truth, not absurd, racially based propaganda.

That goes the same for both white and black biased propaganda.

Seems like nobody gives a shit about or even recognizes the truth or reality anymore.

sad you think skin color has to be a requirement for a job.
AG has none of my "shared experience" if she/he were black or white

I prefer to see her as AG. I think Buttigieg was a better VP pick for a few reasons. But politics being what it is, Harris will do fine. Kaine was the most moronic pick in history. Not even vanilla. He was plain yogurt.

Agree 100%, but I constantly remind myself that I don't get pulled over (literally for nothing) dozens of times/year. There comes a point where you just get disgusted.
