I will vote for Biden as well my friend. But I am fully aware of how democrats can lose again even in the face of the trump horror show and all that we see in front of us. Failing to address the concerns of the Left and ignoring progressives is snatching defeat from the jaws of wghat should be an easy victory.

I speak to a lot of young black voters and progressives of all stripes, all colors. They are not happy with the status quo, not happy with centrists and moderates. That should bea relatively easy fix. All it requires is will and respect for a generation that will ultimately inherit the reigns of power anyway.

Yes. But they don't understand the concept of baby steps. The youth, that is. John Lewis saw so much positive change in his life, but also saw that we aren't getting closer to 'good' under this moron in the White House. Can you imagine his satisfaction in '08?

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I've noticed you touch on two issues: 1.) Progressives settle for a Democratic party that doesn't embrace them. 2.) All good people need to support the Democrats this year because the Republicans cannot address racial reality.

I agree with you on both points. If the Democratic party is supposed to be the more liberal of them, then it needs to start addressing progressives and millennials. It's an old legacy party that operates decades in the past at all times.

Racism never went anywhere. It was pushed into the closet for a long time. The age of Trump welcomed racists out of their closets and into mainstream American culture again. There can be no equivocation for supporting people and a party that sanctions, adopts, and encourages racism. I resist ever viewing political matters as good versus evil, but in 2020, there can be no doubt. No good person can support Trump and what he stands for; and every person who supports Trump and what he stands for is not a good person.

I was once stopped by cops on a dark street in the French Quarter because I was running to my parked car. I guess they suspected I was guilty of something because I was running. I got to my car, locked the door and they banged on the window ordering me to open up. Believe me I was scared shitless.
The last thing I do is try to drive off or resist. I opened up, they searched my car, a let me go after a few questions. Where were you, why were you running, etc. I hope that's what you teach. Glad I don't need to be taught that.

And I would do the same.

I generally agree with OP. Joe Biden was not my first choice. Or second, or third. The party needs to become more progressive, and a small shift left cannot possibly undo the damage of 40 years of wages and wealth flowing to the rich. I agree with this, because, frankly, I'm a white guy. I don't fear a traffic stop. I know I'm driving away, and I don't really care if the cop shines a flashlight in my car. Of course I haven't been stopped in years. The last time was in a rural redneck area, the cop claimed (falsely) that I hadn't signaled a lane change, and he was hoping for a nice DUI stop. I had a friend in the car that was pretty lit, so of course the alcohol smell was immediate. I got out, let him shine the light, and would have even submitted to field sobriety but he quickly realized he was gonna get nothing out of it, and away I went.

I think part of it was that EVERYONE thought Hillary was a shoe-in. No one expected FBI Comey to come out and say Hillary was under some kind of investigation 8 days before the Election. I think THAT was the game-changer.
Plus, I'm not sure Bernie 'had a seat at the table' with Hillary. With Biden, Bernie (and others) will 'have a say'.

Without question. There are dozens of separate issues to be discussed in retrospect.

Many got complacent, for the reason you cited. But everyone was warned when the race got closer. The Supreme Court was at stake. Hundreds of Fed judicial appointments were at stake. ACA was at stake. The list goes on.

Bernie might have had a seat at the table. I don't see why he wouldn't. He didn't do a very good job of accepting the results of the primaries. And he only did a perfunctory job of addressing the kids who were counting their free tuition dollars.

Bottom line...despite being the most qualified to lead the nation of any candidate in the race, people simply hated Hillary. Almost as much as they hated trump. Truly an odd election cycle.

The question remains. Will Democrats and Independents recognize the impending doom if they refuse to back Biden?

Agree 100%, but I constantly remind myself that I don't get pulled over (literally for nothing) dozens of times/year. There comes a point where you just get disgusted.
