We are not sending anyone to die in Ukraine.

Imagine your neighbors house is on fire. Your neighbor says he would like to take your hose, and a bit of your water, and try to save his family. You respond, "I am not willing to send anyone into a burning house"?

He is not asking you to run into a burning house. He is going to run in for his own reasons. He is just asking for a hose, and some water out of your faucet. You might not get the hose back, and you definitely will not get the water back, but it is a tiny price to pay.

And it might just save your house from burning down too. I do not care if you are Black or white, having your house burn down sucks.

Do you really believe that all of this propaganda we've been subjected to is about NOT sending people to war in the Ukraine?

such hubris. were you concerned when we were on the ground during the Euromaidan?

You were on the ground during Euromaiden? What was it like? Or is this another one of your stories?

When France decided to leave the NATO command structure, did the USA invade France, or did we just shrug it off? When the British decided to leave the EU, did the EU invade Britain, or did they just shrug it off?

You do not mind Russia invading Ukraine to keep them from ever joining the EU or NATO, or ever developing a modern country. What about Estonia, or Poland? Where is the line?

Can Putin invade Kansas? Are you OK with that?

if you were concerned about the rise of China

And here we get to where we disagree. I wish the Chinese all the prosperity they can have. I want them to rise. The world is not a zero sum game. My concern is with the abandonment of our allies.

trump in a moment of insanity --- or should I say a moment within a lifetime of insanity --- said we should bomb Russia with pilots disguised as Chinese pilots. They would wear some sort of magical makeup, or something. he was literally the worst choice for the white house. Not just the worst human choice, but the worst vertebrate choice. Any squirrel would have been better.

Back in the real world, Biden is not going to send American forces to Ukraine. There will be almost certainly American volunteers, most of them Ukrainian-American, but they will not be under American protection while in Ukraine. We are not setting up a no fly zone over Ukraine. We are not fighting in Ukraine.

We are sending forces to the border of NATO. If Putin did not want that, he should have taken the deal.

....and supports Putin. Xi is Putin's buddy.

The thing about being the world's only superpower is that everything affects us in some way.
we are not the only superpower. China and Russia both qualify, or at least Russia was before it got mangled in Ukraine.
Not only that China is out to dominate

China under current president Xi Jinping is a global superpower. With the world's second-largest economy, a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council, a modernised armed force and an ambitious space programme, China has the potential to replace the United States as the greatest superpower in the future.

indeed
This is what happened while we were playing put Putin in a box (sanctions/NATO expansion)
and sending him off gift wrapped to Xi

ROFLMAO ^^^ dumbass is now blaming America for Putin sucking up to China and invading Ukraine.

Do your neighbors know you hate the US so much, Dookie? Do they know you support Russia in dominating the planet? What would be their reaction if they found out the truth about you?

Western sanctions tie Russia even tighter to China

The state of play: In the weeks before the invasion, Beijing lifted restrictions on wheat imports from Russia and signed a 30-year deal to buy increased volumes of Russian gas — signaling China's massive market was opening further to Russia.

China and Russia have recently inked several energy deals that are largely outside the U.S. dollar-based international financial system, using the Chinese yuan, the Financial Times reports.
Russian oil company Gazprom Neft announced last year that it would use yuan for airplane fuel transactions with China instead of the U.S. dollar.
Russia is also a major recipient of loans from Chinese financial institutions, receiving $151 billion between 2000 and 2017.

A previous round of Western sanctions over Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea saw Russia reorient its economy toward China, signing a $400 billion deal to send gas there and increasing cooperation around infrastructure and technology.

Did you know that during the Cold War America was STILL selling wheat to Russia? Yep, we were feeding the very people our gov't and news media told us was a mortal enemy bent on our subjugation or annihilation.

So no, I'm not going to buy into this updated "domino theory".
They were hoping for a thaw in Cold War relations. Russia had had four years of failed wheat crops. We weren’t formally at war, so would you let people starve?

we always maintained diplomacy during Cold War 1.
we stopped it after the Russian reset failed - those Trump years where he was scorned for trying to deal with Putin resulted in yet more pressure on Russia by arming Ukraine.
Finally Biden rejected Russia's red line talks...not carrying on diplomacy took it's toll
