As far as perception, Trump's propaganda controls that now more than anything, and his supporters' repetition of that. Perception generally have very little to do w/ reality these days.

And again - look at the stats, and the policy. Separations were rare under Obama, because his policy was not extreme.

#walkaway is the #3 trending hashtag on Twitter and it’s about Democrats walking away from their party. It’s not about Trump so much [no, not everything is about Trump lol] but reflects discontent with the radical direction the party has taken.

Here is a sample:

I did my own #walkaway this year. Voted D all my life since I was 18. I'm 42 now and just voted straight R ticket in the CA primary. Never felt better.

I'm loving the #WalkAway movement! It's refreshing to see Americans who realize their country is being destroyed by the radical left and wake up to the truth.

I don’t consider myself a member of any party, I vote people, not party. I vote Democrats, Republicans, Libertarian, Independent and Green. It depends on which candidate at the time I feel will best represent the people.

But that's so much more work.

Trump and his bombast will be gone someday.

Left behind will be his movement. Trump has made the GOP a bigger tent and it could easily accommodate disaffected Democrats—even those that would be on board now, except for Trump’s personality.

That is a tent I could never set foot in.
