Update: Storm could bring hurricane force winds to the Gulf coast later this week

True. It'll be a wet soggy mess for a few days, but it could have been a LOT worse.

:) Well, it hasn't happened yet. So, who knows, it might do all kinds of crazy loops and spins and end up going to the Florida Panhandle. Grumpy says he LOVES Hurricanes and Tropical Storms.

It's pretty wet there right now. Mississippi River is a foot from cresting. Just hope that the majority of rainfall comes at low tide on Saturday.
From different folks I've heard speak who live there say that the pumps do seem to be doing their job.

But she is not jumping for joy about all the Trump voters who will die like some of the other posters. I guess they see it as their best chance to win.

I haven't seen any conservatives happy that the storm will hit New Orleans because it voted 80% for Clinton and I hope none of them are hurt.

Not openly.

I don't want anyone to get hurt. However, it's hard to have compassion for someone that chooses to live in a bowl then complains when it rains a lot and the bowl fills up.

Right now sustained winds are 50mph Barry could become a hurricane as it approaches the coast. Expect 10 to 20 inches of rain. Good Luck keep us posted.

Thanks. But I'm not worried about a Tropical Storm. It looks like a 'rain maker', so the places that usually flood, ... will probably flood.

I'm watching the present and forecast details on ECMWF (ICON) model. The heaviest precip looks
to be mainly on the east side of center (not really an eye)and west of N.O. Pretty much sloooooooowly
moving north for the next few days between Houma and New Iberia, straight up through Baton Rouge.
The beginning of it hitting land around 7-8 a.m. Saturday.
Yup......you're going to get soaked.

Here, too. We are expected to get a lot of rain the next few days but I am on the west side of the storm (I hope).

I called my son in Lafayette, asked how it was going. He said "Fine, not worried about a thing". I'm east of NOLA, I'm not worried about 'flooding'.
I think the Media gets stuff like this and gins it up for more 'audience'. (?)

Course, this always works in Louisiana's favor when they ask Washington DC for "Billions in Relief". :)

Looks like Slidell area will not get the worst of the rain. All day Saturday the model is showing heavy rain coming through Houma
and then up and between western NO and Baton Rouge with water on Lake P. being pushed north (away from NO levees).
