You are right, Islamists are too busy letting little Muslim girls burn to death in their school because they are not dressed modestly enough to be rescued. They are too busy shooting Malala Yousafzai, a 14-year-old Pakistani schoolgirl who dared to speak out against a ban on female education. They are too busy throwing Alicia Gali, an Australian woman into prison for 8 months for the “crime” of Adultery when in fact she was drugged and gang raped. I could go on and on and on about the love that it Islam in the Middle East, but you would just make excuses for them.

Without having to educate you on the horrendous crimes that are committed in THIS country .. including against women and girls .. I'll suffice it to say that obviously whatever the Islamists are doing, this government has no problem with it .. which is why they're sleeping in the same bed.

Or is it news to you that we support the same Islamists you're talking about .. often with your tax dollars?

Truth? You don't spout truth. Living in the US is a dream compared to living in the Middle east. During Desert Shield/Storm every day in Riyadh people were mutilated in the square. Almost ALL of them Palestinian. Hands hacked off, a few beheadings, all mostly for being Palestinian, though charges were always trumped up. Islamic countries suck, life for their people suck. YOU have never lived one day in this country as bad as most Afghan or Iraqi kids live everyday. Your daughter has NEVER lived a life as shitty as the average Afghan woman. I don't know when the last time you were in an Islamic country, if ever, but I got to see first hand the difference between the haves and the have nots in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Never on your worst day has it been that bad.

I can't begin to imagine and I am always grateful for living here, it is also why my Muslim friends are grateful to be living here.

interesting, 99% of the practitioners of islam in the u s of a are peaceful, however, the other 1% more than make up for the rest with their radicalization. our 'wars' against terrorism have spawned more terrorists than they have killed. the u s government is well aware of islamic terrorists and is working to rid the world of them. they just are going about it wrong.

my thoughts on religion are well known as i disapprove of religion per see. however, if more people actually followed the tenants of their religions the world would be a better place.

I don't think we should even be in that part of the world. The Israeli's decided to live there, they are grown ups. Figure it out. But lets not pretend that everything wrong in the ME is because of the US and our thirst for their oil.

I agree with the right that how women are (broadly) treated there cannot be compared to how they are (broadly) treated here. Problem being that righties don't actually give a crap how women are treated here and are almost always part of rape culture here. Rana and Christie always put up articles about women being raped, beaten, murdered here on the anti-muslim threads. They can't be accused of being anti-Muslim.

I've also taken note that the way women are treated in Muslim countries is used by anti-feminist western men to attempt to silence western feminists about sexism and violence against women in the west. In other words, they exploit the treatment of women there to forward their agenda. They don't give a shit about women either. This is a big reason I hardly ever get involved in these discussions. There is so much bs to wade through.

Regardless of where you come down on this, to me, there can be no arguing Tariq Ali's statement that no country ever went to war to better the lot of women. That's the bottom line.
