It's a wonderful crossroads for Republicans. And one that everyone saw coming miles away.

Being loyal to Trump - in the way he defines loyalty - is at direct odds with being a "principled conservative." Sure, once in awhile he gives his minions an "easy button" on stuff like the wall and cutting taxes. But more often than not, he'll lead them down a rabbit hole that they don't really want to spend time in.

His stance on Putin is the ultimate version of that. Most of these politicians grew up with one model for conservatism: Ronald Reagan. And Trump's effusive praise of Putin & this action, as well as exclamations along the lines of "he likes me!", really tests that old Reagan loyalty.

It's great to see guys like Hawley try to toe that thin line, while riding a unicycle & juggling at the same time.

Let's see just how well the GOP does with Putin's boy Trump out there in the midterms, and then 2024 looms.

Remember Lindsey Graham, back before Daddy McCain died and so he still had some guts, said that if the GOP elected trump the party would be destroyed, and they would deserve it.
