Uneducated red rural white voters are very poor

Yep, THAT is very true. LBJ was possibly our most racist president, with the exception of MAYBE one Barry Obama.

Post a reputable source confirming LBJ said that.

This is a record of what LBJ is reputed to have said I am familiar wirh

When President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law on July 2, 1964, he is said to have told an aide, “We (Democrats) have lost the South for a generation.”

I would agree that they definitely have bought into the myth that urban areas consist of nothing but lazy POC who are all on welfare. Yet when *they* receive benefits, it's because they are entitled to them. Those other ppl? No.

Most of the employed poor that we knew worked very hard. Unfortunately their jobs were minimum wage or a bit above. You can't get ahead on minimum wage, especially in states like Missouri where it is very low. In fact, the (R)s that dominate Missouri's legislature deliberately keep it that way. The people of STL and KC voted a few years back to raise the minimum wage in those two cities to $15/hour (I believe, but it could have been slightly lower). The legislature promptly passed a law forbidding the raising of minimum wage *anywhere* in the state to higher than the state's level. It's now only $8.60. Yet the poor rural whites keep voting for these clowns.

I honestly have no idea how people can live on such low minimum wages. National minimum wage is $7.25. Lets say you work two jobs, each for 40 hours a week, or 80 hours total. That is only $29k. I know money goes further in rural areas, but still for that many hours that is tough. If you have kids, you will rarely see them working those hours.

This deserves breaking out

Well, I found a list of Ohio counties by per capita wealth. There are 68 counties with below Ohio average of wealth. They are all white majority, and all but three 94-99% white. They are all very rural. They are all highly dependent on government handouts. None include any of the big cities of Ohio. All but two voted overwhelmingly for trump.

The counties containing cities are doing quite well. The cities themselves are doing well. It is the rural white counties that are the train wrecks.

Lets say the Alt Right crazies are able to destroy the cities, will they be able to replace them? I don't think so.

Just a side note, productivity by my definition does not include crystal meth. You guys are very productive in that one narrow field. That (along with the opioid epidemic) is part of the reason trump voters are so unproductive.

The very poor and uneducated, rural or urban, are very unlikely to vote. The Democratic or Republican votes do not come from this demographic.

trump has done wonders for bringing out the poor, uneducated white vote in a way no one has ever done before.

So who will the rest of the poor uneducated vote join them in voting for the president this year? He's done so much for them, after all....;)

It is not people who did not vote before. If by "uneducated" you mean no college degree then you are including 67% of adults and 64% of voters. If you go to the least educated Americans those are Hispanics and blacks who vote heavily Democratic.

It is, indeed-right on the license plates if you choose;)....that's why Ohio is the heart of it all;)...But I didn't ask what our motto is;)
Can we get a break down of the counties in your land of virtue, liberty, and Independence;)

Breakdown? Yep.They're for Trump.

You can bump the minimum wage to $15/hr like we have in SF but it means nothing when studios cost $3K/mnth. You focus on the minimum wage amount but not the cost of living in the surrounding areas. It's why they created the Supplemental Poverty Measure because in the real world you can't ignore the cost of living.

I’m one of those rural voters (mostly white) who has been told that I vote against my own best interests since I started participating in these sites back in the mid-90’s. Sometimes I do vote against my own ‘financial’ best interests but I’m aware of it ahead of time and do it anyway. There are other interests besides ‘financial’ ones though.
