Uneducated red rural white voters are very poor

Hamilton County (with Cincinnati) is literally twice as rich as Delaware County. Athens County is three times as rich as Delaware County. There are about 68 counties like Delaware County, but Delaware is the worst.

It is odd that so many people in rural Ohio are so poor. What is your theory as to why all these trump voters are not trying?

Well, I found a list of Ohio counties by per capita wealth. There are 68 counties with below Ohio average of wealth. They are all white majority, and all but three 94-99% white. They are all very rural. They are all highly dependent on government handouts. None include any of the big cities of Ohio. All but two voted overwhelmingly for trump.

The counties containing cities are doing quite well. The cities themselves are doing well. It is the rural white counties that are the train wrecks.

Lets say the Alt Right crazies are able to destroy the cities, will they be able to replace them? I don't think so.

Just a side note, productivity by my definition does not include crystal meth. You guys are very productive in that one narrow field. That (along with the opioid epidemic) is part of the reason trump voters are so unproductive.

Thank you! Full disclosure, I borrowed the phrase from a black Christian friend of my wife. I thought it sounded better than "all lives matter".

I do mean every life, including feline. Still working on the Cat Shack addition, but the beasties are now occupying it during the day.

We lived for 11 years in a very rural county NW of St. Louis, MO. The chief "industry" was farming. There were not a lot of well-paying jobs so those who worked typically drove down to the next county (a suburb of STL) for their jobs. My commute, for example, was 40 minutes each way. My two youngest daughters attended h.s. there. There was a pervasive attitude that education was something forced on you and not a very desirable thing. The h.s. was very small yet did offer honors courses in several subject (math and English mostly) for college credit. Both of my girls took all that were offered. They still talk about how few of their friends were interested in higher education. In fact, the only reason the youngest girl's bf even graduated h.s. is because she pushed him to do better and at least get a diploma. He works now as a maintenance man and groundskeeper for the nursing home where his mom works as a dietary aide. She dated another young man after graduation with the same meh attitude. He was homeschooled and only got a GED after she encouraged it. He works as a produce dept. assistant manager at the Walmart. These guys are typical of the other kids they knew/still know. Content to just get by. Personally I don't see anything wrong with that if you are happy in your choices and not depending on taxpayers to make your lifestyle "better"... or even worse, cooking meth or growing pot to finance your lifestyle.

Although these ppl are all white, their attitudes are very similar to those of the urban poor -- both black and white -- that I've known.

I have trouble understanding people who see no use in education. I can understand not getting an education... Well even that confuses me. I could understand not getting a formal education, but get some sort of education. This idea society will take care of you just because you are white is insane.
