He was answering a Wah Po story in which unnamed sources said the president was being investigated.

I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt!

Probably.

On the one hand Comey wanted the FBI to stay above the political fray. OTOH, three times he injected himself into it. First by exonerating Hillary; again, by re-investigating Hillary and then, miraculously, closing the investigation in a matter of days before the election.

And finally, by passively allowing the lie that Trump was under investigation to be propagated by the media.

The question isn't why Trump fired Comey---it's why wasn't he fired sooner.
