Tulsi Gabbard: 'It's fair' to say 2020 Democrats advocate for 'open borders'

2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard called the characterization that some of her Democratic opponents are in favor of open borders "fair."

The Hawaii congresswoman discussed the issue of immigration and borders during her interview with Dave Rubin on The Rubin Report, which aired this weekend.

Rubin asked, "So immigration, I think there’s a general sense that the candidates, the Democrats are basically trying to outdo each other for open borders, something like that. A) do you think that’s a fair way to start the question? And B) where do you sit on that?”

"I think it’s fair. I don’t — I don’t support open borders," Gabbard answered. "Without secure borders, we don’t really have a country. And while some of the other Democratic candidates will say, ‘Well, that’s a conservative argument and that’s not really what’s being advocated for.’ If you look at the practical implications of some of the things they’re pushing for, it is essentially open borders."​

She went on, "I think there’s a few things we’ve got to do when we’re talking about immigration reform. One is that we’ve got to have secure borders. This is not Trump’s wall from sea to shining sea, it’s about seeing again what makes sense. I look at things from a practical, objective-oriented standpoint, I’m a soldier, so I look at what’s our objective."

The issue of immigration and border security has taken center stage during the primary debates thus far. During the first debate in Miami in June, all 10 candidates during the second night raised their hands when asked if they believe that crossing the border "should be a civil offense, rather than a crime." The question came after a similar was asked the night before.

"Open borders" isn't defined by anything.

It's a goalpost that gets shifted to mean whatever anyone wants it to mean at any given time.

It's specifically designed to elicit an emotional reaction.

Its equivalent is "when did you stop beating your wife?"
 
It's actually one of their campaign slogans,
along with
Abortion RULES
and
Higher taxes
and
Free stuff for everbody

When Trump loses, I am going to take great enjoyment in watching you try to wiggle away from him on these boards, perhaps even creating a brand new ID because this ID's reputation is toast. You'll create the new ID, but you won't be able to keep up the facade for very long before falling back into the same, pathetic bad habits that make you so easily identifiable.

gawd I'm in love with this woman's mind. If Trump wasn't having such a successful presidency, i'd vote for her.
Amazingly the Dems have become a war party advocating no wall,free health care, and a civil fine for illegal aliens

When I looked into the democraticunderground.com echo chamber they universally hated her even though it's against their archaic rules to hate any dim candidate and one post against any dim candidate gets you banned for life. They apparently made an exception for her.

The usual rap against her is she took up for Assad -
which isn't completely accurate in that she supported Assad by default because even the Free Syrian Army
was suborned by terrorists ( why us trying to arm up anyone there was always a failure)

Russiaphobia has warped everyone's minds ever further as you can see by the blowback Trump got for giving a heads up to Lavrov as well (CNN story) -and this is universally coming from the Dems ( some Republicans too)
