You jumped ahead one step. My argument is that for almost the entirety of the history of the House, each party got to choose its members on committees freely without interference from the other party(s). Pelosi tossed that out the window by not accepting the other party's choices. McCarthy's response was to boycott the committee. Because of that, Pelosi NEEDING the appearance of bipartisanship on the committee was forced to pick two Republicans she found acceptable and willing to be on it instead.

This is entirely Pelosi's fault.

Why would Pelosi need the appearance of bipartisanship? It seems you are simply making shit up because you can't defend the fact that Pelosi didn't prevent McCarthy from naming members to the committee. McCarthy refused to appoint anyone to the committee after 2 of his initial picks were rejected because they were likely to be called as witnesses by the committee. Jordan's refusal to submit to questions by investigators show his selection was wrong and that he was considered a witness.
