Trumpster Fire

His campaign is the craziest thing I have ever seen in politics. He can't keep good people, and he send so many mixed messages. I think he really doesn't want to be President, I think he just want to say, I could have been President. He won the nomination, he will use it to prop up his brand.
Well...he made a gross miscalculation....as usual.

His brand is officially in the toilet. He just lost the Doral Open. He's been exposed as one who will rent out his name to anyone who has the money, regardless of the quality of the product.

He's done more to hurt himself, than bolster his name.

Sure...the 45% who would vote for him might be willing to support his products....if they had jobs.

This could turn into a contest to see what Trump has to do to lose support of the rank and file Republicans.

What does Trump have to do to lose their support?

He's basically admitting to being a racist, that was not enough, what will be?

They have a real conundrum. Once they say they don't support Trump, the next question is always 'so you want Hillary to be POTUS?'

And that's when they have to return to the spin.

It is also something that is being discussed, its just bizarre.

I appreciate that he is creating massive division in the GOP, but I can't fathom any sane person running a campaign like he as run. He literally just mouths off without thinking it through. He has been a long time friend of Hillary and Bill's, but now, we are to believe he is not? Is he senile? Or is this some master plan?

I just think that he has always says what he thinks, he doesn't care, he doesn't need the Clinton's friendship, he really doesn't care.

There is a theory out there that he really didn't want to be President. He wanted to get in the campaign to shake things up, but never thought he'd actually get the nomination.

And it really seems that way. It's almost like he's playing w/ the public & the media now...how far can he take it? I mean, it's only June. What are we in store for?

In a way, it's loads of fun. My fave part is seeing all of his surrogates on the cable shows finding ways to spin this thing about the judge, and all of the other craziness. They're so committed (like all surrogates are for any campaign - but man, does he put his crew through the ringer).

But I'm wary about Darla's optimism in the OP. I thought he was done as soon as he made that 1st comment about immigrants, and said McCain wasn't a war hero. I've been so wrong about Trump. It would be cool to see him get wiped out on election eve, but I find myself preparing for the worst.

Are we long lost brothers? I've thought the exact same thoughts. It's like he doesn't care, but as he got closer to the nomination he tried a bit more, just to mess with the system. When you read his comments over the years, he sounds middle of the road with a liberal slant. Now, he is a far right winger nutso.

And his competition, besides Bernie who will never get the democratic nomination, his none other than his pal Hillary.

This election looks fixed. The democrats realized Obama would win in 2008, so Hillary got the shaft. And the powers that be now are paying Hillary back.

She will be president.

I know! You're a pessimist and I'm an optimist.

I don't know if we'll ever know what in hell is driving Trump. We all speculate, but it reminds me of when I was driving myself crazy trying to figure someone out and a friend told me "you're trying to find rationality in irrationality". I don't think Trump is rational, and I increasingly don't believe he's sane.

Such a great year to run a normal, establishment candidate, with all of the problems going-on in the Dem camp. And a bunch of retarded proles crashed the GOP primary and nominated Douchebag Donald. That said, he still can win. At this point, I think he actually has the easier road to get there.

Yeah, give me examples of demagoguery. I mean, Andrew Jackson, William Jennings Bryan, and Douchebag Donald are populist demagogues of the highest order. I suppose you could count McCarthy as one. Outside of populist circles, the only one that automatically springs to mind is the progressive Teddy Roosevelt.

I gave you populist examples. My whole point is that nearly every populist leader in history appears as a demagogue. There have been many more non-populist leaders, who generally know how to behave themselves, at lest rhetorically.

It's interesting to really think about the sanity question. There is definitely something wrong with him.

When I think about it, it's almost like he never grew up. He has the same "craziness" as the average kid in elementary school. Exaggerates & makes things up sometimes. Gets petulant and lashes out when someone goes against him or things don't go his way. Same sort of childish insults that you'd hear around that age. Definitely lacks the kind of nuanced thinking that most people acquire as they mature & gain experience.

Jon Stewart referred to him as a "man baby," and that just about captures it. It's fascinating & horrifying, and I can't look away.

"basically"
Oh, how liberals love to ascribe that word to those they disagree with. :palm:
