According to the Washington Post article, this is what Ms Denman told them:

“I was troubled when they put aside my amendment and then watered it down. I said, ‘What is your problem with a country that wants to remain free?’ It seems like a simple thing.”

Is that false? Or did she change her mind?

She is not wanting to admit she got played.

Hello Frank,

Respectfully as possible, Poli...be careful with this kind of thinking.

It bears a resemblance to Donald Trump saying, "There were fine people on both sides" when discussing the Charlottesville marches.

I'm not saying you are dead wrong, but I am saying you may be indulging in the false equivalency stuff that his going around.

If you don't think so, that's like saying all Trump supporters are deplorable. But that's not the case. Maybe half go in that basket. The rest are simply caught up in mind games.

I know many Trump supporters personally. These are good people; friends, relatives, neighbors. They simply bought all the hype about Hillary. They went with Trump. They want to believe they made the right choice. The mind can play games on you. They might think they are informed. If you only get or retain information from limited sources it conditions your thinking. Some of them are Fox viewers. They think they are getting fair and balanced news. Does that make them horrible people?

I am mind boggled by it but it has happened right in front of our eyes. Trump has this Elvis-like charisma that's his secret weapon. He's a slick talker and that works on some people. It doesn't mean they are bad people. They've simply been taken in by only the most effective con man, perhaps in history. Trump has made a life of this. He's really good at saying things and twisting things and jumping subjects before people can process. He's like a well oiled very professional slick marketing team all rolled up into one mouth. Just because people fall for his shtick doesn't mean they are bad. Lots of bad people also support him, too, of course. But that doesn't mean that everyone who supports him is bad.

It's important to maintain perspective.

It's also very important to always remember that the people who post here do not represent the political breakdown of the country. We probably have a higher proportion of extremists here than the nation as a whole does. That's because people with extreme views tend to feel very strongly about them and have a strong need to talk about them to resolve the frustration they have with the system, the status quo. People who are more moderate often just don't care a whole lot, preferring to defer to everyone else. There's a lot of apathy in the nation. A lot of people just don't want anything to do with politics, are totally turned off by it, don't pay attention to the news, don't try to stay informed, and don't vote. Some in the moderate middle or close to it do want to stay informed and actively engaged, so we do so some of those individuals here as well. I simply believe they are underrepresented in this forum. I think it is unwise to believe this forum accurately represents a political cross-section of the USA.

All part of maintaining perspective...

My position is not changed. There are very fine people who believe in Donald Trump. I certainly disagree with them, but I am not going to dehumanize them for their political beliefs. Good people. Back bone of America kind of people. Along with the deplorables, the 'white trash' as we used to call them. Trump and his charisma managed to pull all of them together just enough to tip the scales and bump Hillary out. Plenty of people refuse to admit mistakes. So what? Some of them support Trump. That doesn't automatically make them bad. Sorry. Just being realistic, IMO.

It is really weird that Trump and associates around him are lying their asses off about a Nothing Burger.

There seems to be a subtle shift in the level of Trump worship on this forum, and elsewhere in the wingnutosphere. It has been ages since I have seen a wingnut yelp "Nothingburger!",
and it even seems like some Trump fan-boys are shedding their knee pads and slinking off to put some distance between themselves and their erstwhile hero.

The witch hunt seems to have uncovered a large number of pointy hats and brooms.

It has been a rough November for President Trump. First there was that election that he tried as usual to paint as a win, but it was a loss. Then he had to turn in his answers to Mueller, and that put him in a real sour funk. Now Cohen is taking another plea deal directly with Mueller. Ya think THAT is what the President was so worried about? It really was pathetic he missed that world commemoration in the rain and tried to blame it on the Secret Service and helicopters that can't take the rain. Truly pathetic. And quite sad that so many are willing to swallow it all and still give him a big fat free pass on everything. Very sad.

Hey. Remember all that testimony collected by the House Intelligence Committee? Democrats wanted to give Mueller access to all of that but Nunes said no. Mueller has never seen it. Guess what happens as soon as Democrats take over? All of that testimony goes straight to Mueller. Mueller considers it a serious crime to lie to federal investigators under oath. We could see some more indictments.

We do live in interesting times.

That's all small potatoes compared to what Cohen just admitted to today. He now admits he lied to Congress, at Trump's request, to conceal a multi hundred million dollar Moscow golden tower deal he made directly with Putin. That is the very legal definition of COLLUSION - Defrauding the United Stated (with a foreign power). It's also called Treason.

This was the very worst day of Trump's presidency and probably his life. Most if not all of his family - Jr, Kush, Ivanka, maybe Eric - are in serious jeopardy of going up the river right along with him, co-conspirators at the very least. Also Pence and Sessions must be crapping their pants realizing Mueller has FAR more information than they thought. He's most likely got evidence to convict on each and every crime they've committed

It's the beginning of the end for this den of traitors and thieves.......finally

I have no idea on that particular quote -but if WAPO published a misleading/incorrect headline
and did not show the 2 drafts, that's fake news

They were helped in their efforts by a July 18, 2016, story in the Washington Post with the headline, "Trump campaign guts GOP's anti-Russia stance on Ukraine" — a blatantly false description of events.

I'm no fan of Trump but as for me, politics in general is getting boring. I've been hearing for at least a yr. now that the latest revelation is finally it.
If I had to bet, I'd bet that trump never gets impeached and if he did I'd bet again that the senate would never convict him.
Whatever he may have done as far as Russian collusion or his previous business dealings before being elected pres. doesn't come close to Watergate.

No problem, Poli. We just disagree on this issue.
