Out of 618,685 deaths in the USA, 208,431 were in "New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois and California", so we do not have to wait a decade, already most of the deaths are not in those states. Only a third were in those states. Guess what, those states also have about a third of the country's population. You would expect them to have a much higher rate, due them being densely populated transportation hubs, but that has been lessoned by their better reaction to the pandemic.

New Jersey has a 30% higher death rate than South Dakota. New Jersey has 1,263 people per square mile compared to South Dakota's 11, so New Jersey is literally hundred times more densely populated, and should have much higher numbers. Also New Jersey is a major transportation hub, so was hit earlier, when treatments were more primitive.

that has nothing to do with the fact that, with the current numbers of deaths from covid, no red state will ever catch up with the lives lost in New Jersey.....contrary to the hopes of the OP....

They are clinging to deaths that happened early in the pandemic and ignoring what's going on right now. When EVERY SINGLE DEATH IS PREVENTABLE. People are dying because Trumps followers are knuckle dragging morons. Fortunately, the people that are dying are the same knuckling dragging morons.
