Only 58% of people in Anchorage have received at least one vaccine shot.

So in a couple months, Alaska is going to be right back to where they started while CA will have achieved herd immunity.

Governor Newsome announced months ago that June 15 would be the official, get-back-to-normal, full re-opening of the state because Cali's vaccination roll out has been more successfully implemented than in the Trump-loving states.

California has the ninth best positivity rate at 0.8%. California's vaccination rate is 48.5%, higher than the national average. California ranks 11th best in cases per capita.

California isn't the best state based on these metrics, but it's certainly in the top dozen or so states in controlling the virus at this point. Places where the virus is out of control are almost exclusively Trump states. It is an objective fact.

They wear maybe 10% at parks and open air generally. This is fairly similar to CDC guidelines and what I've observed elsewhere. You see someone over 18, you are very likely looking at a fully vaxed human.

We need to get age 2-18 vaxed pdq. I hope the clinical trials for them go well.

I am still wearing my mask in the grocery store. It's almost habit now. I'm pretty much alone in that. I've stopped wearing masks completely everywhere else. I still carry one in case it's required, but this IS Florida. Enough said. I am more likely to be run over by a car than I am to die of Covid at this point. The numbers don't lie. Vaccines work beyond the wildest expectations going into this. If you refuse to be vaccinated, you are, simply put, an ignoramus.

I was in NC and the "Food Lion" (the only choice in my little town there) still had mask mandate.

Breakthrough infection rate (getting covid after fully vaxed) is less than 1%. Then multiply that by the fairly low rate of death. Yes, you will be eaten by a gator before dying of covid 19.

It's the recalcitrant antivaxers who will ironically keep the vaccine companies flush with cash year after year.

I also read healthcare workers are frustrated (read pissed) that almost every person coming in to er with covid is not vaccinated,
entirely preventable and taking up a bed that some trauma patient could be in. Caring for assholes must suck.

Yep. Of course the impact of vaccinations increases exponentially as more people get it. Fewer targets, less contagious. The odds of me even ENCOUNTERING someone with Covid have dropped by 95% from the peak of the pandemic. And if I do, it's highly unlikely I'd get it, even less likely that it would be severe.

But.. that's math and science.
