In politics there's bad optics and there's good optics.

Remember when Obama visited NJ after hurricane Sandy---shortly before the last election? Now that he's safely ensconced in the WH and riding out the last days of his second term, he stays on the links while parts of Lousiana are devastated by massive flooding.

Bad optics. Very bad optics. But Obama's checked out, politically.

Today Trump is going to make an appearance in Lousiana. Granted, he can't release federal funds [dont be surprised if he releases some of his own] but he can meet with people and at least give the appearance that somebody cares.

Very good optics.

Prediction: the media will try and ignore the contrast in optics. Failing that, they will lambast Trump for cynically using a tragedy for political gain.

Wait and see.

And yet no months of blasting him by the MSM the way they tried to lynch GWB after Katrina.

It's all politics all the time.

Earlier this summer WV had a devastating flood the cost twice as many lives and nobody of note showed up. We didn't expect anyone to since nobody panders for the poor white vote. Floods here are scary because of the terrain. Parts of Lousiana look like a big lake but when WV was hit homes and people were swept away by the current. A small creek can turn into a raging stream in a matter of minutes in a flash flood. There's stories of people calling and texting from their homes as they were being swept away.

At any rate, this move by Trump is the first smart thing he's done in awhile.

Poor little lapdoggies. Why won't people love your master like you do?

None of you are Asian, but this showcases your Trumpbro weeping so well...:rofl2:

Poor Troll, crying because his messiah is worse than Bush.

I have absolutely no doubt the troll got sucked into the messiah bit lol.

Ironically, had it not been for Obama castigating Bush in how he handled Katrina there wouldn't be much to say about Obama's non-response. President is an executive position, so things can be handled from afar---whether it's Bush or Obama.

It's the hypocrisy that makes it a story.

As Thing would say, that is what makes this a story, not Obama actually golfing instead.

Why do you guys always demand political correctness from Obama but not Trump?

Righties always do the apples-to-apples thing.

FEMA was on this one immediately, and are deeply involved in getting funding and resources to the area. They're not currently run by a political crony whose previous experience was with horses, or whatever it was. If anything, the fed response on this has been pretty close to textbook.

Contrast that w/ what happened under Bush. I don't even have to describe it. Go ahead & reflect on it for a few minutes, and then try to argue that this is the "same thing."

The complaints about Bush we're not regarding his failure to visit right away, the complaints were about how completely inept FEMA was and how it turned out FEMA was being run by someone who had no experience with anything other than horse training and donating money to political campaigns.

Oh bullshit, people bitched about his fly over.

What exactly did the feds to wrong? Did they leave the buses?

The whole Katrina thing is just another example of Democrats being massive hypocrites.
