Yes, both can afford their own security. Yet both used the legal means of providing SS protection for the six months following their exits from office. The difference? The law allows them to extend protection for six months, so they do. And no, the Bush girls had extended protection through college. This was notably before the 2012 law though that extended the protections for ex-Presidents past 10 years to a lifetime of protection. Regardless the twins did not immediately lose protections. Four days before leaving the presidency, on January 16, 2009, George W. Bush signed a presidential directive authorizing the Secret Service to provide an additional period of protection for his daughters.

Now, we don't know exactly how long the extension was, because Secret Service doesn't expose those things as it is detrimental to their security, however we do know they got extended protections. Every President since the 2012 law, even Trump, has extended protections for their adult children for the six months allowed by the current law.

When Trump left office he extended the protection detail for his adult children, but revoked the same extension for others, the person used the excuse of "he's been shot"... So, the question remains. Should every President that has been shot revoke the Secret Service details of others?

Likely. Divide them up in shifts, give them days off, then you'll find that means probably about 4 or 5 around them 24/7. Likely more during the daytime, slightly less at night when they aren't moving around... but yeah... That sounds probably right.

I disagree. That's just pettiness and shouldn't factor into the decision. The detail would not even protect them from having to face justice if that was something that was coming down the pipeline.

This just means that when someone next gets into office after Trump they are likely to do the same in retaliation. This is something that representatives at that level should rise above. Pettiness is disappointing.

Ok.. thanks...That seems pretty excessive... But you may be right... I looked but couldn't find any numbers.... Not sure why they would need 4 or 5 around at any one time, though...

This toxic environment by the Democratic Party..."Hitler, Nazi, Fascist" was a contributing factor for lunatics to attack a sitting president.

I believe it was created intentionally to cause an attack... the shooting of President Trump.

Retribution is merited and warranted.
