The entire episode sparked a public outcry condemned by many including The NY Times who declared, “Evidently, New York needs to make salvation of this kind of landmark mandatory and stop expecting that its developers will be good citizens and good sports.”

This judge is either a Trump hater or a stone cold idiot. In his order he states:

Leon said that below-ground work on security measures is exempt from his order suspending above-ground construction. Government lawyers have argued that the project includes critical security features to guard against a range of possible threats, such as drones, ballistic missiles and biohazards.

He's fine with Trump building a bunker there, but says he can't build a building on top of it. That makes ZERO sense. It was okay that in the past presidents to gut the White House to remuddle it. But god forbid that Trump do something like that, and using private donations rather than taxpayer money.

That aside, no not every liberal is evil. If I had to guess, this judge simply hates Trump for one reason or another and saw this as an opportunity to smack him down. His initial ruling to stop the project entirely was overturned on appeal with the appeals court remanding the order back to him saying he couldn't stop a national security project. So, this idiot judge simply narrowed his ruling, and it will go back to the appeals court to be smacked down again.

Also, since when does a lowly district court judge decide national policy and what the executive branch can and cannot do on something clearly within their purview? Asshole district court judges have far too much power, conservative or liberal. A single unelected judge should not be deciding national policy of any sort whatsoever.
