Trump predicts he can win 95% of the black vote on re-election

That's a stick of rhetorical dynamite thrown right in the middle of the democrat party's tent. Hey #NeverTrumpers, take notes. That is how you take down the democrats, not by playing nice with them or by running scared from the minority vote.

Yesterday this writer mused that Trump needs to take this exact message into the middle of Detroit or Philly. Turns out Newt Gingrich thinks the same thing. I'll wager a debate is going on in the Trump campaign over it.

And I'll wager Trump is all for it lol.

The 95% of the black vote is an obvious exaggeration---no one will ever hit it again. But it has an intent: the media will go out of their way to keep such dangerous rhetoric off the airwaves but the exaggeration forces them to talk about Trump---and what he said to the Michigan audience.

A mostly white audience. It will be interesting to see if Trump takes the next step.

This is the way the GOP should have been talking to blacks for years. Pointing out the failures of the democrat party. Obviously he is engaging in hyperbole when he says 95%, but the reality is that he doesn't need to peel off that many from Crooked Hillary. If he can't get between (big if right now) 10-20% of black vote, Crooked Hillary is toast.

Another factor to consider is that while they may not vote for Trump, pointing out the democrat party's failures could keep them from turning out in high numbers for Croooked Hillary.

They keep voting for the democrat party even though as a group they do poorly in every metric.

Trump is the first candidate that isn't a democrat to make a serious play for their vote. Crooked Hillary should be worried. You will know she is worried when she dusts off he negro accent and shows up in black church pews singing field songs.

Trump has said he is the law and order candidate, if elected the Trump administration would do little if anything, in prosecuting cowardly and Thug cops who murder black citizens. Trump would give the police more military style weaponry, who would use it on the black community without having any fear of being held accountable! The credence in Trump can get 95% of the black vote in a re-election is laughable!

I'm no Trumper, but I recall the democrat party characterizing republicans as voting against their interests. How is that different?

Seriously. Such an irony/hypocrisy for a liberal to criticize conservatives for knowing what's best for blacks when they say blacks should vote liberal if they know what's good for them lol.

The fact is it hasn't been good for them to vote liberal again and again and again, when nothing ever changes. There almost has to be some blacks who are hearing Trump's message of 'why not something different for a change'.

And you wonder how many will secretly pull the lever and vote for change, in November.

This is purely ancedotal but reading my Facebook feed today were a small number of black friends who posted these Trump comments and they got nothing but negative responses. You don't do this in front of a white audience and think blacks are going to jump on board.

I'll give a counter example. "Anti-racist" Tim Wise wrote a "letter to white people" article for Ebony magazine. Now who was that article really written for? And how many white people were actually going to read it and change their mind?

That's what Trump was doing here. There's a reason he's polling like he is.

He used to get mentioned by rappers quite a bit. He had an in to the black community. He chose not to take it. Now he is hated. There is no miracle run that is going to occur for him.

He really needs to take his message into an urban area. I have a hunch it's coming. And if it does it will be interesting to see how it's received.

One thing you can be certain the media spin machine would go into hyper drive and the JPP liberals will regurgitate all the appropriate talking points. There will be the usual assortment of leftist groups protesting Trump's unmitigated audacity in speaking directly to a black crowd lol.

It would make for quite the spectacle.

The black vote approaches monolithic proportions in favor of democrats. There almost has to be something amiss when that happens. How many blacks are aware of LBJ's infamous declaration? that 'the niggers will be voting democrat for 200 years now'.

Shouldn't more of them be looking around their broken down urban communities and saying 'hey, wait a minute, we've been had by the democrats'.

I think they should but at the same time republicans don't give them a reason to. How many republicans go speak in the black community? How many make a real effort?

Sitting back and saying democrats suck doesn't cut it. And look at comments made by Republicans on this board for instance. If you were black would that be winning you over?

It will take a long term effort. The Hispanic vote is more important right now

But right off the bat, we fall into the trap of racializing politics when we say 'you have to do this or that to appeal to X minority'.

Trump has his faults but he's preaching 'let's do this or that for *jobs*' instead of this or that for Minority X. That's supposed to be the conservative message. Conservatives advocate helping all people by improving economic opportunity for everyone, blacks and Hispanics included.

No, Trump has no conservative message and he racially has appealed to whites and turned away Hispanics and blacks.

You can't run the campaign he has and expect minorities to support you.
