"Trump plan for drug prices won't include direct negotiations"

how fucking stupid are you? do you bother to read any prior posts? apparently not.

TRUMP CANNOT DO PRICE NEGOTIATIONS WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL. period.stop.

but going after the INFLATED pricing is a good way to bring down costs..not the same, but both designed to
bring down user costs

And what did Trump do to make that happen? Going after countries that have cheaper drugs will not, fullstop, decrease our drug prices. Ronnie Gal security analyst for drug companies said "The president's speech was very, very positive for drug companies. We have seen nothing in the speech that should concern drug PHARM investers."

Share prices went up immediately after Trump's speech.

blah blah..you keep saying the same stuff, except "going after countries that have cheaper drugs prices"..
which is indecipherable

How many conservatives were out there screaming for joy about an infrastructure plan? You, and most Democrats, were against the infrastructure plan because you thought it was going to privatize roads etc. You claimed to not like how it was funded. So I don't understand why you would be upset that it's not happening. Infrastructure at the federal level is a boondoggle.

What's your issue with what I wrote Nordberg?

good article
The United States can pressure foreign nations through diplomacy and trade negotiations. In its annual report card on the protection of intellectual property rights around the world, the United States trade representative last month criticized the drug pricing and reimbursement policies of Canada, South Korea, Japan, India, Turkey, New Zealand and a number of European Union countries, saying they did not adequately recognize the value of innovative medicines.

America’s trading partners must “contribute their fair share to the research and development of new cures and therapies,” the report said, echoing Mr. Trump’s contention that foreign price controls were “very unfair to this country.”

I follow some right wing media and didn't see a whole lot mentioned about it. I heard more discussion about it from economists and those who followed the Fed and the discussion over whether another stimulus was needed now.

You need to watch rachel maddow. She'll keep you up to date with truth.

Allowing Medicare to use price negotiations was a Trump campaign promise. He broke it,. He has always been a corporate stooge. He was not going to hurt the wealthy and powerful. Instead, he wants other countries to increase their prices. Damn that was stupid and revealing.

Stupid, but not revealing. I always knew he was stupid.

extreme bullshit.
The Dems will never back ANYTHING Trump proposes; even for the good of the country.
They are TDS infected "da resistance".. F.F.Sake -Schumer was even criticizing the optics of NK's prisoner release!

The Repubs are worthless corporatists to be sure, but the Dem's are mindless Trump-haters.
Congress is an unwilling partner on making America great again.

So Trump has to use executive action to lower list pricing of Rx drugs

Senator manchin (d) WV always votes with trump. he's a dino.

you are frothing at the fact there isn't any price negotiations, but missing the point lowering the list price reduces the amount of profit throughout the supply chain. it's cost control

Yes we'd all love to have Medicare negotiations -but TRUMP CANNOT DO THAT ALONE
( for like the 5th time I've gone over this) so find something else to bitch about -because Congress won't do it.

I agree, he can't do it alone. But, that's the way he rolls.

Trump's infrastructure plan was introduced with the same orchestrated theatrics as this drug plan, his opied proposals, his umpteen do nothing EO's, all heralded by the right wing media, and bought as an accomplishment by the conservatives. Once again I am just pointing out the hilarity of it all, and gullibility of the right

And if you want to get into specifics, the infrastructure plan was bogus from the start. Trump promised this dedicated involvement by the Federal Gov't, just as he did with drug proposals, to completely revamp America's infrastructure, top priority, and what does he do, return with a plan dependent upon private funding, although that didn't stop him from throwing around the idea of trillions of dollars for repairs. It, and the show surrounding it, were nearly comical, yet conservatives bought the shtick
Yep...laughable.

Lies

if the Dems weren't so hung up with da resistance - Trump would work with them on this.
But the Dems will cut off their nose to spite their face, even if it means getting one of their priorities taken care of..
what a useless bunch - Dems and Repubs both.

Yeah, why can't the dems cooperate like mitch mcconnell does.:palm:

Daffy and many Republicans have turned on McConnell. He has been around a long time. He knows his business. If he sees an opening or a sign of weakness, he will take advantage of it. Mitchy has been too quiet. That should worry Trump .

President Trump Announces YUGE Crackdown On Greedy Big Pharma Profiteers!!! YUGE!

-Then gives them 50 lashes with a wet noodle as he makes a stern facial expression.

-Investors immediately run, laughing, all the way to Wall Street to buy up more Big Pharma stock.

-Seniors on Medicare still wait patiently for meaningful leadership and change.

Is anybody surprised President Trump is failing to follow through on the big words of his campaign ?

Investors bought Big Pharma stock because the news meant that the President was not going to take on the big powerful drug industry. If there was really a crackdown, it would hurt the profits of the drug industry. No, the President cannot change the law by himself, he needs Congress to do that. The challenge would be a tough one, obviously something this weak President lacks the power to rise up to. He would have a tough time of it, no doubt. Big Pharma is powerful. This is crony capitalism at work, folks. Big Pharma has more legislators wrapped around their little finger than almost any industry. Big Pharma put them in office and it can easily replace them.

President Trump would have to use the bully pulpit to shame this crony capitalism, in order to fight it. He would need to stand up and be a real leader to convince Congress to side with allowing the Medicare negotiations which are needed. Big Pharma would launch a PR campaign against him and against anyone who sides with him at a time when many are facing midterm elections. This would cost President Trump precious political capital, something he has very little to spare. He can't do that and survive the midterms already rumored to be a blue wave building. It would be the fight of his term, and failure to get enough votes to do it would spell disaster for him legislatively, worse than not being able to replace Obamacare.

You think the NRA is strong? They are nothing compared to Big Pharma.

The President is trying to fulfill a campaign promise, but he can't do what he promised because he is too weak. Only a very powerful President could take on Big Pharma.

Big Pharma is power drunk with drug money.

Big Pharma tells Presidents what to do.

The only solution is information.

People need to wise up to what is going on. Somehow people have got to survive all the Big Pharma PR propaganda, understand the powers in play here, and vote with conviction. When Americans stand together in great enough numbers we have the power to tell Big Pharma what to do. That's what it is going to take. There just doesn't seem to be any way to get there.

Good luck to We The People on that!

apparently you are not familiar with Dem's da resistance.
They reflexively vote against anything Trump -even his nominees
