By giving the House the power to impeach they clearly made it a political decision. High crimes and misdemeanors is obviously a vague term. It does not refer strictly to legally defined crimes because that is an issue for the courts.
What did they intend?
Yes, I understand that is his opinion. That does not make it treason, but it got him media coverage. I don't think anybody could commit treason in a speech.
Lying under oath about an affair in the midst of a special investigation that was meant to investigate a land deal was enough to reach the high crimes and misdemeanor threshold --- which is now why Trump and his supporters have no intentions of him being questioned under oath -- and now they admit Clinton should have never done it either --- they can freely admit this since its been years ago -- so they don't mind you knowing how full of shit they are now...

If the words are so clear, explain them to me. Does misdemeanors mean all misdemeanors--traffic ticket, jaywalking, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness? Does it apply to just federal misdemeanors or also state and local crimes? Does high crimes mean felony? Can the president only be impeached for criminal offenses? What was the original intent?
What does the interpretation of that clause have to do with being leftist or revisionist?

If you want to know what the founder's intentions were, simply read what they wrote on the subject. It's not my job to educate you. Suffice it to say, they never intended impeachment to be easy, and utized with some vague trumped up nonsense. No pun intended.
Read the posts. I have called out people for making the Nazi/Hitler comparison as ridiculous. If you simply read the posts on this thread you will see I called the treason charges crazy.
I have read about impeachment and explained some things and you called me a "leftist" and "revisionist" but could not explain what was wrong with my statements. Nowhere did I say impeachment was easy. You try to put everybody in liberal/conservative categories without knowledge of what they are stating. Labeling somebody as liberal or conservative does not mean you have won the argument.
What was wrong with my statement about impeachment--show us your knowledge. What "talking point" are you referring to?
