trump fought installing sprinklers

NEW YORK — The 50th-floor apartment in Trump Tower where a man was killed in a raging fire did not have sprinklers — a requirement Donald Trump once fought as a powerful real estate developer.
Todd Brassner, 67, died at a hospital on Saturday after a fire ripped through his apartment in the high-rise, which opened in 1983 at a time when building codes did not require the residential section to have sprinklers.
Subsequent updates to the codes required commercial skyscrapers to install sprinklers retroactively, but owners of older residential high-rises are not required to install them unless the building undergoes major renovations.

Some fire safety advocates pushed for a requirement that older apartment buildings be retrofitted with sprinklers when the city passed a law requiring them in new residential high-rises in 1999, but officials in the administration of then-mayor Rudolph Giuliani said that would be too expensive.
Trump was among the developers who spoke out against the retrofitting as unnecessary and expensive.

What's worse is TRUMP called in the past "that old Jew". The man had a condo there for over 20 years.

The guy was a recluse, would rather stay and burn with his paintings and artwork rather than walk out the door. He was probably against sprinkler retrofit as well, since it would have required movig all his shit out while the work was being done.

he was medically handicapped idiot

there were no sprinklers because trump did not make sure his building was safe

trumpy tweeted about the fire being out when it was still growing

he never once mentioned the mans death

which spread because there were no sprinklers to contain it

as i understand it it was confined to the unit itself. Which is a sign of a well built building. Even if the sprinkler law passed (and it did) Trump and other developers would have not been required to put them in as it only applied to new buildings.

There were no sprinklers because the codes at the time the building was built nor retroactive application of those codes applied.

That it was confined tells me that the walls separating units were rated walls designed to do just that, at least for a period of time.

Reckless involuntary manslaughter is a killing supported by the criminal intent element of recklessness. Recklessness means that the defendant is aware of a risk of death but acts anyway. Negligent involuntary manslaughter is a killing supported by the criminal intent element of negligence. Negligence means that the defendant should be aware of a risk of death, but is not. This category includes many careless or accidental deaths, such as death caused by firearms or explosives, and a parent’s failure to provide medical treatment or necessities for his or her child. Reckless and negligent criminal intent is discussed in detail in Chapter 4 “The Elements of a Crime”.

As stated in Section 9.5.1 “Depraved Heart Murder”, reckless or negligent involuntary manslaughter is often similar to second-degree depraved heart murder. If the prosecution charges the defendant with both crimes, the trier of fact determines which crime is appropriate based on the attendant circumstances.

if only this nation would inforce this type of crime when its rich people involved

I bet his family does sue civilly
