Trans woman - the hero!

Actually, I was referring to the mental aspects of martial arts via meditation when I referenced benefits, but I guess it was rather vague.

Because awareness of ones surroundings is half of the battle

Agreed on situational awareness.

When will you fess up about milking women on self-defense training. Be honest and tell them "Buy a gun".

Back on topic; it appears there were at least three people involved in subduing Anderson Lee Aldrich, one of them an unidentified trans woman.

Police identified Club Q patrons Richard Fierro and Thomas James as two of the "heroes" who police said stopped Aldrich from continuing to fire and potentially inflicting further damage.

Fierro, an Army veteran who was at the club with his family to see a drag performance by his daughter's friend, grabbed Aldrich's gun during the shooting and used it to repeatedly beat the suspect, police said. Fierro added that a third person identified as a trans woman also repeatedly kicked Aldrich in the head.

It really is. It's amazing to watch people in a parking lot, totally oblivious to everything around them, focused on their phone, car keys, packages, kids, etc. That's what crooks look for, distraction.
Good point. Back when I was in class, there were no cellphones. But being aware was always the first step to remaining safe.

 Poor lamp. Did you break it? Did you wake her up?
LOL. It was a metal lamp (thankfully). I think she eventually got used to it.

One night she screamed at me because (evidently) I was reaching around and my fingers were playing the piano on her face.

All in my sleep.

Now, they are the old timers!
They are also the end of the draft era. BIG change in society after that. Not so much in Washington, and their useless acts of aggression.
The draft ended about 1 year before I turned 18. I was literally counting down the days before that.

You are absolutely correct about Nam vets. I was spit on called a baby burner at the airport on my way home. I do have the satisfaction of breaking the nose of the guy who spit on me. LOL
Well, the reason that happened to you and others, and the reason the war ended after an uproar in this nation, is the same.

They scapegoated Calley, and it hit the news. Once American citizens actually got to see the horrors over there, the pressure mounted.

It still didn't stop people from erroneously blaming soldiers for the acts of the govt..

You literally paid the price so that those who came after you would all enjoy hero status. Deserved or not.

   That's hilarious.

Mr. Owl once woke me up pinching my arm. He said he was dreaming that he was annoyed by someone at work so was pinching them to make them go away. As a result, I made this into a ring tone for my phone, for when he calls me. (He's a retired software engineer.) :rofl2:

.

You started the thread with a lie, and you demand proof of others?

I believe one of your demands was a response to my claim that the hero in this story seems to think that he fought for our freedom.

That's a lie.

He fought for Exxon/Mobil, Halliburton, and Blackwater.

There is nothing that transpired in any of the U.S acts of aggression after WW2 that had/has anything to do with 'our freedoms'.

That's just a cookie cutter response to every discussion about veterans.

Prove it was a lie!

LMAO. To this day I wake in the morning with naked pillows and the flat sheet on the floor. I must be an active sleeper.

Prove it was a lie!
Watch t.v. like the rest of us did to disprove your OP.

As far as 'fighting for our freedoms', the onus is on you to illustrate how any of our acts of aggression were 'defending our freedom'.

You can't.

Prove it was a lie!

Master Althea knowingly ripped off women and the parents of girls for years claiming they could defend themselves against a larger opponent instead of telling them to save their money and buy a gun.

Not everyone wants to carry. I'd rather know how to defend myself -- or even better, avoid trouble -- w/o it.

Agreed not everyone wants to carry a firearm.

Alternatively, tell the women and girls to take up track and invest in a good pair of running shoes. Better than lying to them and ripping off their money.
