Electric cars have many desirable features, and need only to solve the long distance trip charging problems.
If you only drive them locally, they seem like a good idea. You've got all night to charge them.
The problem is cultural. Some of us are still around who loved the big, dirty running, fuel thirsty, noisy, and powerful V8 internal combustion engines
for reasons that have little to do with meeting basic transportation needs. For purely aesthetic and cultural reasons.
A cheap digital watch tells time as well as a Rolex, and you've got your cell phone and don't need a watch at all. But if you want a Rolex, you want a Rolex and
knowing the time of day has little to do with it.
Soon, those of us who grew up either finally getting or continuing to lust for 19 foot long luxury highway cruisers, big block Corvettes, and macho pickups, even though we do office work,
will all be gone. Then the electric cars will smoothly roll into place.
