Has the oil stopped? No. It is being rerouted via pipelines to other destinations. Yes, this is disruptive and can cost more, but the oil is still flowing.
In a long-term scenario, Iran's ploy is a fail. Oil gets shipped via other means.
My bet is that he, or his people, did. They also likely gamed out, so to speak, what to do about it. That's likely why he moved on Venezuela. Opening Venezuela's oil back on the market--and that is happening--makes up for some of the loss of Middle East exports. It also puts pressure on China to act against Iran rather than support them as an ally.
In the long run, Iran's ploy is fucked. They don't have the navy to close the strait. Using a collection of cockleshells and hobbled together nonsense won't do the trick. They don't have the industrial base to keep up the missile barrage indefinitely. Mining is a spoiler, not a winner, as a strategy.
