Today is D-Day, June 6th

Yeah in the biblical sense

We all know your gig

You remind me of that character in Idiocracy

The one who keeps saying “I like sex”

Normandy is just one of 7 major amphibious assaults made in Europe during WW 2. The others should be remembered too.

now wasn’t that the day when Trump was in France and couldn’t attend the Normandy remembrance celebrations because it was raining and it might muss up his hair dew? or, was it because he didn’t recognize dead nor captured heroes, only those who weren’t captured or killed?

Best Trump moment on recognizing heroism was when Junior was caught observing while looking over Arlington Cemetery that it immediately reminded him of all the sacrifices and difficulties that his family had faced (https://www.axios.com/2019/11/08/donald-trump-jr-arlington-cemetery-family-sacrifices)

MAGA militia’s understanding of courage, bravery, and patriotism sure is different from the rest of America

Poor anchovies, perhaps you should watch your own bobber. Brandon finally issued a tweet tonight at 8:45 acknowledging D-Day.

I'm curious as I can only think of only five major amphibious landings, namely Dieppe, Normandy, North Africa (Torch), Sicily and Salerno.

Dieppe was a raid.

North Africa
Sicily
Salerno
Anzio
Normandy
S. France
The Scheldt (clearing the approaches to Antwerp)

Operation Overlord was the one that counted most if it failed.

Forgot about Anzio and the French Riviera, shame on me.

Funny how you call Dieppe a raid when it was attacked along 14 kms of coastline by a force made up of almost 5,000 Canadians, approximately 1,000 British commandos and 50 American Army Rangers.

Way to respect the day asshat.

You and everyone like you should kill yourselves.

A Woke D-Day

Normandy, France, June 6, 1944

In a surprise aggressive move, American and British troops are landing on the beaches in Normandy today. Germany’s Transocean News Service reports that Germans vacationing in the sleepy hamlets of this coastal region were awoken by the ships, planes, guns, and bombs of this sneak attack. A few brave German tourists quickly ran to bunkers and began returning fire to protect their French brothers and sisters.

Germany has already been subject to a horrifying 363 air raids by the Allied air forces in an attempt to terrorize its citizens. British bombers have dropped over 45,000 tons of bombs while American aircraft dropped 23,000 tons. Nearly 1.7 million people have been forced from their homes, creating what the League of Nations has called the greatest refugee problem in history. Many fleeing Germans only stopped briefly to say their goodbyes to the friends they made at the various camps throughout Germany and Poland.

The attack on the Normandy coast was an oppressive show of military might, the Allied forces having amassed the largest armada in human history, building a harbour where none previously existed, and sneaking into it unnoticed. On college campuses, various socialist student organizations have held vigils, protests, and riots to condemn this “illegal occupation.” They noted that the deaths in Germany have numbered in the millions while Americans have had relatively few casualties, perhaps only 100,000 to 200,000. If the number of vacationers in the German camps are included, that German death count increases by another 6 million. It is obvious from the numbers that this militant operation is an attempt to murder innocent Germans and wipe out their culture. The League of Nations has labeled this action illegal under international law.

Protests are occurring in all major American cities, with demonstrators shouting that they will support the indigenous people of Germany against the occupying Allied forces, and they will not stop until this “disproportionate” action is halted, and the “imperialist” invading military is defunded.

There was no way it was going to fail. Omaha beach was a worst case scenario and it succeeded despite that. The amount of material, effort, and planning that went into that operation pretty much guaranteed its success regardless of what the Germans did.

It was not intended by design to remain on the beach. The intent was to test German defenses of a port and gather intelligence firsthand on German defense systems.

Bruneval was a previous similar raid on a smaller scale. That one was specifically made to gain intelligence on the German Würtzburg radar.

Is that why Ike wrote a failure speech?
