That all may well be true.

But it doesn't make the bigotry of the extreme right any better or less egregious.

I'd rather have a bit of forced politeness and acceptance than a continuation of the ugliness of past decades that conservatives are OK with.

I mean white people are guilty of slavery, but they also were the enlightened bunch that got us a United States with all it's advantages for everyone -ability to self correct,and peaceful transition of power now for 240 years.

Like it or not the constant emphasis on degrading the Republic without praising any of it's exceptionalism does take it's toll.

I'm not the kind to just automatically wholesale accuse all conservatives of racism and bigotry because I know there are some who aren't like that.

But there's no denying that much of the right's hatred and resentment of Obama stems directly from the fact that he's black.

No doubt about it.

They'd have hated him anyway because he's a liberal Democrat, but being black was just insult added to injury for them.

Trump is their great white savior. He'll be able to be as moronic and ineffective as he can be, but he'll get a pass from the far right simply because he's the white man who replaced the black man.

I'm not OK with any bigotry. I do take your point that some of the far/alt-right are guilty.

But the Dems have been painting Trump as bigots, etc without merit.
Steve Bannon's tangential ties to racism does not a racist administration make no matter how many times they jump the shark

Again, all well and good.

But the consequences of the alternative we were offered, must be weighed.

Trump is a potential - likely even - disaster waiting to happen.

A loose cannon with highly suspicious ties to Moscow and who knows what other shady business dealings.

No amount of goody-two-shoes minority pandering out of the Democrats should have been an excuse to hand the nuke codes over to something like that orange clown who's about to receive them.

God help us all.

Okay, let's say Trump is not a bigot himself.

But he obviously appeals to bigots by design.

He knows he can't/won't do what he promised about illegal immigration from Mexico, but he ginned up furor about it by exploiting racial hatred.

Just as bad.
