This may sound a bit racial but...

Look at how you ask your question. Why does a culture of entitlement have to mean a specific group of people to you? To speak of a culture of entitlement in the American people speaks to all Americans.

I know you specifically want it to mean a culture of entitlement among the black community. For shits & giggles if that was the argument it's not like that was first made in 2009 so that wouldn't even be relevant anyway.

A 'culture of entitlement' basically refers to a nation where less people are working and more people are living off of government programs. (in the most basic sense)

Funny because more people are working now in Obama's fifth year than were working in Bush's 8th year.

? Post 29. "And before you comment, Noble should get the book thrown at him for killing an unarmed teen, and gun violence in our society still makes me sick."

Im willing to bet that Noble will get life in prison for what he did, without a single mistrial.

I always knew that a mistrial was very likely in the Dunn Murder charge.

Really Garud... where have I stated any such thing regarding the murder charge?

Are you lying again Garud?

So you think the self defense law in Florida is liberal?

You have not shared an opinion regarding the Dunn mistrial.

Yes, Florida's self defense law is WAY too liberal. Liberal is in lenient, generous toward criminals. Not liberal as in politically.

Yet you claim that I don't care. What are you basing that off of?

The jury came to a decision. Dunn ended up getting 60 years. Which will likely result in him being in prison the rest of his life or at least the vast majority of it. I am not sure what the jury saw or heard that made them unable to decide on the murder charge. So while I think he should have been convicted on that count (based on what has been released on the case), I cannot judge them for their decision without knowing their reasoning. So unless one or more of them provide us with such... I have to give them the benefit of the doubt.

You think the SYG law is to help criminals? Do you have any evidence that supports such a claim? How many SYG cases have there been? What percentage of the cases do you believe a criminal benefited?

Really? Do you have numbers for that? And I'm not talking the unemployment rate.

The number of people actually employed increased by 133,000 last month, climbing from 144,170,000 in August to 144,303,000 in September. When Obama took office in January 2009, there were 142,153,000 Americans employed--meaning the number has increased by 2,150,000 over the past 57 months. - See more at: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/ter...ce-climbs-another-record#sthash.Tn2rqNlC.dpuf

I don't think the SYG law's intent was to help criminals, I simply think it does help criminals. If you kill someone and there are no witnesses and you tell a story of how you stood your ground... how are they ever going to convict you?

Again... do you have any data that suggests situations like the above are common? How many cases have been tried where SYG was the defense? What percentage of those cases fit the description you give above?

You asked what group I felt the entitlements were directed at.

yes, I did. I did not ask you whether or not you felt Obama was pushing entitlements. We were talking about your OP's bullshit claim that Reps talking about entitlements led to the actions of Dunn (or that they may have). So tell us Garud... why do you think talk about entitlements would somehow lead a racist to open fire on a group of black teens?

That is about 37,000 a month. We need 250,000 a month just to break even. Major fail.

Now this is where you give us the "yeah but he inherited ........." blah blah blah or whatever affirmative action excuse you want to use for him.

What I said was true, more Americans are working at the end of President Obamas first 5 years than were working after 8 years of Bush's presidency... Regardless you conservatives claim he promotes a senses of entitlement that makes people think its okay not to work.

Its very interesting how TD's comments are so close to MD's quotes that start this thread.

My opinion is that we have a case of two parties willing to engage in violence because a group of young blacks think they have the right to blare their music so loud that it is disturbing to all around them and a white dude who felt he had a right to ask them to turn their music down and wasn't going to be intimidated or back down.

It is a sad case of the sad state we have evolved where one group feels it is entitled to do whatever they feel like even if it disturbs those around them and can intimidate them through threats of violence and a leftist ideology that says such behavior has to be tolerated even to societal detriment.

Think I am not making sense? Just look at Detroit. We have a societal choice; we can shrink and run. Or we can say enough is enough and raise our kids to respect others, our laws and decency.

"Eventually we as a society will wake up and realize we need to arm ourselves, as the government welfare programs have produced a culture of entitlement for a certain segment of our society. Those fools feel entitled to live above the law and do violence at will. Remember when your mom was robbed? At gunpoint? Black Thugs."

Maybe if I add the sentence before the quote I made above it will be more clear that this man was motivated by the rhetoric about entitlements.

LMAO... so... again Garud... are YOU like HIM? Do you hear the word 'entitlement' and think 'black people'?

Or you could have just posted the link to the article so we all could read it instead of giving it to us in bits and pieces without full context and trying to have a discussion off that.

I don't think Obama is pushing any "entitlements" and I don't think he promotes a culture of entitlement.

Thats because your head is stuffed where it shouldn't be....you don't think he promotes a culture of entitlement? So be it....believe what you must.....

but you can't deny that record numbers of people are on the gov. teat and clamoring for more....Obama didn't create the culture of entitlement, Democrats did, and

he is just encouraging it as do many Conservative politicians....its todays way of buying votes and keeping your cushy job in Washington.....

and its got nothing to do with a racist or just a guy with a thorn up his ass shooting some kid that pissed him off....that includes Dunn, Noble and many others.
