Another problem is what hazlnut mentions, this conspiratorial crap has got to go. Libertarians do this too, but it seems worst among social conservatives. Democrats are not all marxists who want to outlaw your religion take your guns and turn your children into homosexuals. That's just watermark.

Again, that was not what was said. Sorry! But it does show us just how much of a challenge we face. IF the various factions of conservatism are going to remain defiantly entrenched in their own personal ideology and reject the others, then we will all go to our graves clinging to an ideological belief that will never be realized, while radical Marxist Socialist liberalism reigns supreme.

The challenge we face as conservatives is to become open-minded. To stop categorically rejecting other conservatives and cannibalizing our own. Now Stringy, the problem is, I don't believe you are a conservative of any kind. I think you are a liberal libertarian. I'm sorry, but I don't think conservatives have any intention of adopting liberal libertarianism, but you can continue to dream about that.

I'm here to tell you, conservatives aren't going away, we aren't backing down, we're not going to roll over and allow you to implement your insane plans to transform our country. We're not going to be MORE bipartisan now that the election is over, we're not going to be EASIER to get along with, we're not good sports or good losers. In fact, we are very sore losers, and we plan to be even more defiant and rebellious, even more loud and vocal, and even more determined to defeat you at every turn. If you somehow think, in the drunkenness of your victory, that your ideas and philosophy will be easier to implement and force on society, you've got a major surprise in your future.

Conservatives aren't going away - they're just becoming a smaller part of the population. The message last night was pretty clear: you're outnumbered.

It wasn't just Obama. You got shellacked in the Senate, and progressive measures on gay marriage & marijuana generally won.

It was a huge night for progressives. Progressive ideas always win in the end.

I think you are wrong. 2 million fewer people voted for Romney than voted for McCain 4 years ago. It wasn't because Romney was more conservative than McCain, and 2 million people didn't go insane and become progressives. It was because Romney was not a true conservative, and many true conservatives chose to not participate in the election.

Dude, it was not because he wasn't conservative enough. What more do you want him to be conservative on? Bush attracted 40% of the Latino vote Romney got 27%. Romney sure as hell wasn't reaching out to them. The party sure didn't soften its stance on abortion to reach out to women. I don't buy for a second that true conservatives stayed at home.

I am a libertarian. That's it. No need to qualify it with liberal or conservative. Just a libertarian. Again, the two candidates I chose to support are both Republicans. Both won. The ballot measures went very well, better than I had hoped, but I knew they were going to trend my way. I told you several years ago, you are a dinosaur. It's over for you and your politics of hate.

I WILL not be showing any tolerance to racist, mysoginists and xenophobes like you. You are a moron and any candidate that panders to you is unworthy of holding office.

I don't care what "conservatives" adopt. I don't care if the GOP never wins another election. Its not about trying to influence anyone. I am telling you the GOP is doomed as long as they continue to allow social conservatives to dominate the nomination process.

My positions are going to do just fine. That's because I support self correcting systems and they work. There is not going to be any Marxist socialist reigning over anybody. Marxism does not work. The Democrats AND Republicans are going to have to cut back on spending and get the budget under control. They may have to increase taxes but that alone is not to going to work.

You see that Romney got hammered for walking away from the issues where he should have been in line with me. That is, his anti free trade pitch blew up in his face. But he does not support free market economics anymore than you do. You are a national socialists and frankly I think Obama is more supportive of free markets than you. You just want market interference to benefit white males and those industries and demographics you think will support the GOP.

Bullshit! EVERY faction of conservative is defiant, and THAT is the problem. YOU claim to be a libertarian, and you're not alone here, there are many of you. I don't recall ANY of you at ANY time, offering to compromise or try to work together with other conservatives. What I continue to see, is almost a FASCIST insistence that other people come to your way of thinking, without you having to budge one single inch. Until that dynamic changes, all of us Conservatives can remain at each other's throats and in denial of reality, while Liberals run the country.
