Dumbass the Omicron strain is twice as transmissible as the original COVID strain. These morons used the S gene Omicron strain so now they have a more transmissible virus than the original virus that has a higher kill rate than the Omicron variant. We DON'T need a MORE infectious virus that is more lethal. . Omicron is the most common variant because it is most transmissible . If it gets loose it is likely to kill more people

The scientists in BU’s National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories found that all mice infected with only the BA.1 omicron variant had mild cases and survived, while the combined omicron spike protein with original COVID-19 virus strain inflicted severe disease with an 80% mortality rate.

When mice were infected with just the original, ancestral virus strain, 100% of the mice died.
