Anyone who's ever taken a biology or microbiology class has seen evolution in action, understands how antibiotic-resistant bacteria become that way, and why we are in a constant battle with pathogens. Dummies like the OP, on the other hand, believe crazy shit gleaned from spurious sources.

Most are concrete thinkers who live paycheck to paycheck and can't balance their own checkbooks. Is that a failure of the US education system? Inbreeding...either genetically or socially? Personal choice? IDK, but I'm enjoying the journey.

My youngest daughter, an actual special ed teacher, can answer that. Parents do not want the burden of instructing their kids. Far too many of them look at the schools as free daycare. During the pandemic, she prepared dozens of instructional videos with her reading to the cyber students and demonstrating things. She physically dropped off packets of learning materials at her students' homes, and offered to pick up finished worksheets, and other virtual learning techniques.

Less than a third of the kids completed their work and had it ready to be submitted. The parents complained that it was "too much work" even though she made it so that any homework would take just a few minutes. Mostly the parents could open the Youtube channel at their convenience and view the lessons/stories with their child, and spend a few minutes with the hand-outs. It was too much work -- for the parent(s). Her students are ages three through five; this is a public school early childhood program where the kids are only in class three hours a day. (She has two classes per day.) About half are special needs; the rest are typical. What kind of message does this send those kids, that the parents thought an hour a day helping them learn was "too much work"? What about the older kids whose parents didn't bother to make sure that they were spending time daily doing their virtual learning, turning in assignments, and taking tests?

This is what is wrong with our educational system. It's not dumb kids. It's not bad teachers. It's not lack of funding (although she spent her own money on most of those materials). It's shitty fucking parents who don't give a fuck about education.
