I don't agree that the party is racist to the core. Nor do I believe all Democratic policies help P.O.C. The Republican Party has a lot of work to do with voters of color but for the past 18 years I've been posting on these boards I've heard the Republican Party is dead, the Republican Party is dead. I'm sure the Democratic Party would love to be as dead as the Republican Party if it meant controlling as much as the Republicans do now.
And this is how they cheat.
CA the state that keeps the country running and it only gets two senators.
Let that sink in.
The EC allows racist white men to stay in power.
Of course you don't .. but that has nothing to do with the truth.
Half the country thinks Donald Trump is a racist. HALF.

I understand what people think of Trump. Trump isn't going to be running for President in 30 years. And Democrats called George W. Bush, McCain and Romney racist too. Romney was also a big sexist. He and Trump share much in common it seems.
California isn't the whole nation though. California can vote 100% for the Democratic candidate for President and it still only delivers 55 electoral votes (and 2 Senators). So you are correct the GOP in this state is close to being an afterthought but again, it's not the whole nation.
This nation is evolving away from your party and everything they stand for.
That evolution goes into overdrive with tomorrows 'hearing.'
The electoral college will also have to be changed.
This is not 1776.
California is the social precursor it has always been.
Not a lot of republicans in the northeast either.
California gone .. NE slim ..South evolving.
Ironically it's people from the NE moving to the South because of high taxes, high cost of living and for many more opportunity. And with the new tax law hitting rich coastal home owners hardest there will be a continued move to the South and the Sunbelt over the next few decades.
... which does not bode well for republicans.
If we move away from free enterprise and private ownership to a more european/bernie sanders style socialism then we'll deserve what's coming to us.

You've got to separate the people who maybe have some subconscious racist stereotyping, from the white supremacists. It is not useful to classify them under the same banner. The former is not a lost cause, the white supremacists are the real enemy. The white supremacists are a small minority, but they are crazy, passionate, and obsessive and able to exercise influence on the internet far greater than their actual numbers because of it.
Anyway by painting too broad of a brush with the term "racist" it inspires a lot of resentment, which unfortunately the white supremacists use this resentment to manipulate people and recruit them. I realize you probably think they're incredibly whiny; I do too tbh, that's why I've usually been so dismissive of them. But I've been thinking this is bad strategy recently.
Anyway, when you say that Donald Trump is a racist, most of what these dumb resentful people hear is "You're racist!" And by "You're racist", they don't think "someone with problematic subconcious stereotyping, who needs to work on fixing their problems", they think "like literally a Ku Klux Klan member". Which drives them further into their cocoon of resent. It's just not good strategically. Plus it gives the actual KKK members more room to be a chameleon in these groups.
Donald Trump is just good enough about dancing across the line that people can't really know where he really is. On one side, you've got people who sigh at his behavior but still vote for him because of economic reasons, or maybe a little bit of stupid self-pitying resent. On the other side you've got like the full ku klux klan members. And he's good enough that he ultimately manages to convince both that he's genuinely ultimately on their side.
So, anyway, I think the Democrats should try to concentrate on *anything* but culture war stuff. Anything but that which people are going to take as some veiled criticism of themselves. Rule of law stuff, the deficit, corruption, the terminal decline of our institutions, his insulting behavior to millions of those whom he is supposed to represent, the alienation and growing lack of respect he's causing around the world with other nations at our expense, growing inequality, the decline in civil rights - there is a lot to talk about.
The culture war stuff is bait. That's exactly where he wants us to be. That's his home turf.
