Diversity Makes Greatness
Hello Vasquezrocks,
I've seen you go after several people here (as above) who have done nothing more than make good points. If you do that to me you better make it good because that will be the one and only time I will read a post like that of yours directed at me. I can tell you're intelligent and I'm always happy to discuss politics with anybody of any view, but it has to be a political discussion. As soon as it becomes an insult contest it is no longer primarily a political discussion. I have zero interest in that.
I know the insult thing is very popular here. And it is also allowed under the rules. I am here for just plain politics, and I understand that in order to filter out all of the (what I call garbage posts) I have to have a large Ignore list. I am not only OK with that, I actively maintain it, consider it a necessity. This yields a refined posting experience above the fray. I'll tell you why I like that. Because I come here to talk about politics. All of that insult stuff just eats up a lot of time and isn't really focusing on politics. By filtering all of that out, almost everything I read IS focused on politics. Thus, I learn more in less time. My discussions are on a higher level and produce better understanding of politics. I become better informed doing it this way than if I spent a portion of my time here mired in insults and flame wars.
We only have so much time we can devote to this place. We all have lives outside of JPP. I can get up to speed on as many issues as possible in the shortest amount of time. That leaves me more free time in my life for other things. That seems like a no-brainer to me. Who would NOT want more free time? Well, you're not getting any more than 24 hours in a day to do as you please, so the only way to get more free time is to reduce the time you spend doing things you are not interested in.
So it boils down to a clarification of interests. I am interested in politics. Some people seem to be interested in telling off other people with whom they disagree. Hey. If that's what people want to do that is their prerogative. The way I see it, time management is just as important to producing a quality life as money management.
And that leads me to let you know, if you care, that I will be unable to continue political discussions with you if you do to me what you have done to others. Nothing personal.
(btw - I used to be more into the personal attack thing long ago and in another forum. After I transcended above that I knew I would never go back.)
You should NOT call yourself " ThatOwlWoman " ....
You should call yourself .... " ThatLooneyBird " !
