”In Florida, DeSantis’s plans for colleges rattle some academics”

“In his efforts to remake higher education in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed laws that alter the tenure system, remove Florida universities from commonly accepted accreditation practices, and mandate annual “viewpoint diversity surveys” from students and faculty.”

“Desantis (R) also pushed through legislation he dubbed the “Stop WOKE Act” that regulates what schools, including universities, and workplaces can teach about race and identity.”

“The board of governors for Florida’s public university system took initial steps Thursday to approve regulations for enforcing the law, with potential penalties including discipline and termination for employees who do not comply. The law also ties some university funding to compliance.”

“Give me somebody that served eight years in the Navy or the Marine Corps. That education is going to be much more beneficial and pertinent than someone that went $100,000 in debt to get a degree in zombie studies,” DeSantis said.”

So much for academic freedom, a well rounded education, and learning to think on your own, instead, now we have a State dictated curriculum, although it does fit in along side DeSantis election police. Like Disney, DeSantis just can’t allow the opinions of academics on his policies, imperative he squash all criticism, especially if it feeds the base

Actually kinda humorous coming from a guy who felt it was necessary to attend both Yale and Harvard

Meanwhile my governor is using the budget surplus to give working families one thousand $$$ to ameliorate the adverse effects of gasoline inflation, as well as increasing funding for education and infrastructure.

Good. All tenure does is make it impossible to fire lousy teachers.

"In his efforts to remake higher education in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed laws that alter the tenure system"

"Alter the tenure system" is lawyer-speak for cosmetic changes to dupe the barely educated MAGA base into believing he is sticking it to the libs

Desantis isn't going to risk running the state's best geneticists and engineering professors out of the state university system.

What a fucking asshole. No one gets a degree in "zombie studies" from anywhere; and higher education is just as useful as military service. As we all know, however, Republicans despise educated people because none of them are.

And no university professor is ever going to take a job that doesn't have the potential for tenure.

Oh..De Santis is in touch with you...who knew?

And no university professor is ever going to take a job that doesn't have the potential for tenure.

Most of them are nothing more than leftist morons, unqualified for ANY COMPARABLE JOB IN THE REAL WORLD. When push comes to shove, they'll take what they can get.

We know. You hate educated people. And we all know why.

Why, Disney moving some it’s’ industries out doesn’t both him, DeSantis, like his fellow Floridian, only thinks on how it effects DeSantis, and damage to the State’s Universities wouldn’t be felt before this November

What a shocker, “copy and paste” doesn’t understand what a research school is nor what they contribute

So?
“In his efforts to remake higher education in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed laws that alter the tenure system, remove Florida universities from commonly accepted accreditation practices, and mandate annual “viewpoint diversity surveys” from students and faculty.”
So he is eliminating racism and bigotry from universities. Good.

He's right.
So much for academic freedom,
Racism isn't freedom. Bigotry isn't freedom.
a well rounded education,
Neither racism nor bigotry are a well rounded education. They aren't even education at all. They are fallacies.
and learning to think on your own,
That's scary to you, isn't it??
instead, now we have a State dictated curriculum,
So...you want to implement State dictated curriculum to prevent a State dictated curriculum. Gotit. You are locked in paradox again, idiot. You are being irrational.
although it does fit in along side DeSantis election police.
There is no such thing.
Like Disney, DeSantis just can’t allow the opinions of academics on his policies,
His policies are not determined by academics. Haven't you figured that out yet???????!?
imperative he squash all criticism, especially if it feeds the base
He isn't. He's only quashing the racism and bigotry. They are free to criticize him for it, and are doing so, according to you. You have locked yourself in another paradox here as well. You are being quite irrational.
Actually kinda humorous coming from a guy who felt it was necessary to attend both Yale and Harvard
Neither of them are in Florida. They should be, since they would both be affected by the same ruling. No more racism and more bigotry. Not even the racism and bigotry at Yale and Harvard. Of course, these plans only affects Florida universities. He can't do anything about these problems at Yale or Harvard...yet.

States do not dictate curriculum, only local school boards. But you knew this.

Your government is broke. It doesn't have a surplus.
Communism doesn't work, dude.
