The US economy saw 'essentially no job growth' last month

Hello cawacko,

To be clear, I’m not saying there aren’t times when presidents deserve more credit or blame. But in general, I think that principle still holds.

When it comes to economic activity, the Fed and monetary policy usually have more influence than anything a president does. Many people though have no idea who the Fed is or what it actually does. And since we don’t vote on Fed governors or the chair, people end up crediting or blaming the president for what happens on their watch.

You’re also right that leadership itself plays a big role in how people view a president, especially in moments of crisis.

This is a time when the president does deserve the blame. What DJT has done is all on him. He could have left well enough alone and we would be fine, but no. Instead, he had to impose radical measures that screwed everything up.

Little really bothers true believers. For example, go back a few years and look at the reaction to inflation under Biden. The left-wing Magat equivalents spent their time brushing it off or trying to deflect all blame from him. The true Trump supporters will do the same.

But not everyone who votes for someone is ride or die. It won’t be based on one month’s numbers, but over time some people might change their vote or just stay home.
You mean the inflation caused by COVID pandemic supply chain shortages that affected the entire planet? The one the Orange Jesus claimed didn't exist for almost 6 months while he rearranged his resort and hotel portfolio? That inflation?

Why do you think Biden caused the inflation spike in the chart below? Why do you think Trump is blameless?

Trump will lie and claim it was the best economy in US history. It helps that he's perverted the BLS.

Except the lies have caught up with him; even Republican voters assume he's faking it.

No doubt the Trump supporters that Mr. Tiny Penis suggests be shot, are enjoying the fruits of their investments in the Dow and gold Trump coins in this robust economy.

inflation is only caused by money supply increase.

all causes of increased prices are not inflation.

you're either dumb or ignorant.

Yup.

While cawacko is correct that most time people do over and under estimate the POTUS impact on economies there is a flip side to that statement.

Because the above is true that often leads most people to underestimate the POTUS impact on economies in extraordinary times.

During extraordinary times (Great Recession/Banking crisis, Obama, Covid, Trump, Global Inflation crisis, Biden) the decisions of how to handle those situations where the POTUS is making massive bets with the country on how they will handle them, can either tip the country to recovery or towards increasingly bad outcomes.

Trump has manufactured an extraordinary time situation with his tariffs which are forcing a readjustment of global markets and relationships and it would be a grave mistake to think that because most POTUS do not impact the economies much in normal times that Trump should not then get a ton of blame or credit based on the outcome of his Tariff realignment.

One of the important differences between DJT and virtually all other presidents is that most of them hire a team of experts to gather and disseminate information, and make calculated recommendations for the president to choose from. DJT only has a group of sycophants to prop up his ego and automatically agree with anything he wants to do. None of his decisions get properly vetted; and his lauders are expected to cheer him on as they use their power to go after political opponents, often in an illegal way as they carry out whatever he wants to do without question.

Agreed 100%. Trump always believes he's the smartest person in the room and only listens to the voices in his head.

LyingFish if you were smarter you would understand that I did not speak out of both sides of my mouth and what i said is 100% accurate.

it goes beyond that.

People like Trump and RFKJr have disdain for experts as they cannot accept that when they think they have figured something out with their "common sense" that these 'experts' can then come along with evidence and facts and say they were wrong.

I have known and worked with many people like this over the years who, once they adopt a position on something, refuse to consider they could be wrong, even when experts say otherwise.

The necessary follow up to this quote by RFKJr is to ask him...

- if your family is getting on airplane that was having engine troubles yesterday or a car that was having break problems, would you want engineers or mechanics (experts) to diagnose and fix the problem or would you want guys like on you the internet, with no input of experts to figure it out and fix it?

Make guys like RFKJr and Trump answer that and see how deep the stupidity runs or force to expose their hypocrisy.
