The Supreme Court punts on religious liberty

The court’s 6-to-3 conservative majority disagreed, insisting that Kennedy’s act of praying was protected by the First Amendment.

This decision was a mistake — not because public schools should be devoid of any religious expression but because students should not feel pressure from their teachers, administrators or coaches either to be or not to be religious, let alone subscribe to a particular faith.

The irony of the decision is that it reduces religion to formal rituals. Being forced or intimidated to participate in a religion ritual, for the Court, is innocuous.

Wait till the Church of Satan holds a ritual at centerfield after a game. Or a Muslim coach lays out prayer rugs and has her players face Mecca and kneel with her. Can of worms: Open.

Years ago the Court said it was okay to have an official prayer to open a session of Congress. They called it "ceremonial."

Noone was pressuring anyone, fuck WaPo and fuck you, the SCOTUS didn't punt they upheld religious liberty which the demonic imfanticidal sexual butchers of children who control the Democrat party, teachers unions, and Department of Education sought to violate.

Of course it was intimidation. Why do it in public in front of student and football players?

Praying silently to ones self is not intimidation you fucking whack job. Trying to force people to not pray in public by threatening their livelihoods is intimidation you goosestepping pos

The school district said Kennedy defied instructions to stop praying alongside his players and made media appearances that turned his prayers into spectacles. The district said that some students felt pressured into taking part and that it offered alternative, less public places to pray after games

Bloomberg Law -- Supreme Court Backs Coach Who Lost Job Over Midfield Prayers

Wait till the Satanists get their turn! lol

He wasn't praying "privately" -- he was having a very public prayer huddle in the middle of the field with his team around him. On school property. Nothing would have been said if he'd done his praying out of the public eye. The school even offered him a place to do so, but he wanted to make a public spectacle of it.

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full." -- Jesus, Matt. 6:5

You need a reading comp course...BADLY.

The court ruled that individuals, such as the coach, are free to practice their religion in public, even on govt. properties,as long as they do not force anyone to join them.

HE DID NOT FORCE ANYONE TO JOIN HIM.

Dream up another NONEXISTENT PROBLEM.

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO "HIDE" YOUR FAITH. WE ARE ALL FREE TO PRAY WHENEVER, WHEREVER WE CHOOSE.

HE FORCED NO ONE TO JOIN HIM.

Thank you for the quote. It is funny how Christians try to use the Bible to argue against abortion--which Jesus never mentioned.
But Jesus did tell his followers not to pray in public.

TOTAL LIES. HE FORBADE HARMING CHILDREN, AND HE TOLD US TO PRACTICE OUR FAITH LIKE A SHINING LIGHT ON A MOUNTIANTOP.

HILARIOUS WHEN SOULSICK, BABYKILLING LEFTISTS TRY TO PRETEND KNOWLEDGE OF CHRISTIANITY...

You're welcome. Much like they do with the Constitution -- they pick out the bits that they like, and scorn the rest of it.

Well, isn't this just a shame? Not really. :rofl2:
