The 'shrill' smear against Hillary Clinton

You're clueless. The writer was writing about Hillary Clinton specifically. She didn't mention any other female politicians by name. If you can't stick to the thread topic, butt out already.

You only post here to sneer at people anyway. Nastiness is all you have to offer.

Christie... do try to pull your head out of your ass. Then try comprehending what the author is doing in the OP. It is precisely what I stated. They are trying to portray Hillary as a victim of sexism. That is 1000000% what the OP is doing. They are not trying to discuss her policies. They are trying to paint poor little Hillary as a victim of sexism from the media.

Yet YOU cannot seem to grasp that.

But do go on... how about YOU explain what the OP is about? What do you think it is saying?

Complaints about women's voices are inherently sexist. Why do only women receive complaints about how their voice sounds? Sexist men just want all women to shut up.

There's actually a podcast that had to institute an automatic reply because of all the obnoxious twats who would write in to complain anytime a woman opened her mouth:

try reading Water... A candidates body language and tone are almost always commented on. Pretending it is sexist to comment about a womans voice and not a mans is nonsense.

I lived in Boston for nine months. I HATED both men AND women's voices from the locals. The ca-hhh or ba-hhh sounds, instead of using an r made me want to kill myself. Had a guy in my office whose daughter's name was Samantha, he pronounced it Samanth-er. I was like WTF?

Nothing sexist complaining about shitty accents.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has spoken out against US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, calling her a “war hawk with bad judgment” who gets an “emotional rush out of killing people.”

“A vote today for Hillary Clinton is a vote for endless, stupid war,” Assange wrote via the @wikileaks Twitter account on Tuesday.

He added that he has “years of experience in dealing with Hillary Clinton and have read thousands of her cables. Hillary lacks judgment and will push the United States into endless wars which spread terrorism.”

Assange also highlighted Clinton's “poor policy decisions,” which he said have “directly contributed” to the rise of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).

Aye to that.

You know what ? She's go to war just to prove that she's got the balls. That's what you'd be risking.

Which male candidate has been criticized for his tone of voice? I'm not talking about a one-time "Dean scream" but for all his speeches or comments.

her voice is authoritarian as well as shouting..I would not use "shrill" -but she comes of as lecturing while shouting.
It sounds like I have to do what she says, or I'm some kina reactionary.

* full disclosure is I despise her*

She does remind me of that third grade teacher who is addressing ... well, third graders. I promise that I will not not vote for her because of the tone of her voice though.

My comment above wasn't really related to Hillary it was related to accents.

I'm a political junkie and follow a lot of the news and political correspondents on twitter and I've seen almost no commentary on her being 'shill'. For better or worse she's had such a long career in the limelight she's a pretty well known commodity at this point. The most I've heard about her voice or how she speaks is when she goes down South, especially speaking to black audiences in the South, and tries to use a southern black twang.

But every single candidate is being judged by the tone of their voice and their body language on stage. That happens in debates. Hell I did Toastmaster back in the day and was judged on it. Some people like Bill Clinton and Obama are gifted speakers and do exceptionally well on a stage in front of people. Hillary doesn't have it. She has strengths but that isn't one of them.

So would Trump, and many other of the Republicans. Bernie is the only one who is not a hawk. I don't think Kasich is much of a hawk, I don't get that from him.

You can make an argument about her voice when she goes down south, that she might be exaggerating because of her audience. However she did live there almost 20 years, and it would be hard not to pick up some of the accent or euphemisms from the area.

How is it that george bush has a Texas accent but Jeb doesn't? Jeb was born there so if anybody should have the accent it would be him.

Linguists understand how easy it is to pick up an accent from the place where you live.

"...linguist Steven Weinberger tells Konbini. He teaches linguistics at George Mason University, and says that tuning your accent to your audience is “completely natural. I’m sure they get coached on it, since they have a coach for everything dealing with the campaign, but it’s something that we all do.”

It really doesn't matter if the figurehead in the White house says " Launch " in a deep voice or with a squeak . The task is to prevent such a person from being in that position. Screw up and we're all dead.

Does any male candidate remind you of that?

No. But I don't know any male third grade teachers. But I will say this:

-Cruz has terrible body language when he speaks
-Carson, while I would love to vote for him, puts me to sleep
-Bernie has a weird voice. Probably just seems weird to me because he's from the NE but he sounds like he has a speech impediment
-Fiorina I've ignored when she's talked because she's pretty irrelevant
-Christie ... can't stand the way he sounds

How a person sounds might have some bearing how many votes they get, but it won't ever be the determining factor in an election. People who are in the public eye have to put up with their perceived flaws being magnified and when they are running for POTUS they can expect it even more so. Imagine if Julia Childs ran for president...lol.

That's has more to do with perceived authenticity in Hillary's case but it's not exactly an issue that gets discussed.

She's not the best campaigner or best speaker. It's definitely a reason why she's struggled in national campaigns. I don't know what else to say. You can consider it sexist but again it's Democrats who haven't voted for her.

While I get your point, prior to TV, tone of voice was factor in electing a President. With TV... Kennedy showed that appearance and body language also impacted the polls along with tone.

We all have preconceptions when it comes to tone/accents etc... Some we respond to positively and some negatively. It varies by individual.

While tone won't necessarily win an election for a person, it can certainly lose it for one.
