No I think he should have been out there using his pulpit to explain to the American people why cuts and austerity during the deepest and most prolonged economic recession of our lifetimes were incredibly dangerous and stupid.

But he didn't do that because economically, he's right of center.

You realize that even if they enact the HARSHEST plan of deficit reduction that has been proposed to date that our federal spending will STILL be increasing faster than inflation?

That is the problem the idiots in the two parties have created. They have conned the public into thinking that talks of cutting deficit spending over ten years is 'good'.... when in reality the annual deficits are still going to far exceed the worst Bush deficit (which was supposedly horrendous according to Dems at the time and acceptable to Reps at the time) every year for the next decade plus.

It is not hard to see what is happening in Europe. People are not as ignorant as you think. They see that out of control spending and promises of more entitlements for all is NOT fiscally responsible. Nor is allowing an environment where 'too big to fail' is allowed to continue to exist. Which is why you have the Tea Party on one side and the OWS on the other. The public is getting pissed.

Please. He certainly can debate his sides argument, but he is without question a Dem hack. He will defend to the death any and all Dem positions. He spouts one talking point after another to support 'his' positions.

Just look at your go around with him on SS. He will not accept anything that contradicts a Dem party position.

If you want to pretend that his being informed on the Dem positions somehow negates his hack status, then that is your option. But it is no way based in reality.

I would guess the vast majority would not want to see cuts to SS, would want to see the waste cut out of Medicare, would want the majority of the Bush tax cuts to be extended permanently. Taxes on corporations is REGRESSIVE... it hurts the low and middle income families a lot more than the wealthy. I am all for raising the cap gains tax rate and I would think the majority of Americans would agree. It should at least be raised back to 20% where Clinton lowered them to. But personally I think all income should be taxed at the same rate.... or do as Reagan did and raise them back up to 40%.

By the majority of the bush tax cuts you are referring to the middle class cuts. I think you're wrong. If I am not mistaken polls have consistently shown that the majority are willing to go back to Clinton-era taxation in order to protect SS and Medicare.
