Actually, the Super Committee was the result of a deal that Obama struck with Congress that enabled the Congress to craft its own deficit reduction plan. If the Super Committee fails, there are certain automatic cuts that result. What Obama did was enact cuts that Congress could override if it chose to. Congress chose not to.

This actually is untrue, IMO. I believe the super committee was Obama’s attempt to enact SS cuts, something he dearly wants to do.

Thank God Republicans are unable to take yes for an answer, and the whole nefarious plot fell through. For now. But our owners want our SS money, and I believe Carlin was right - they're going to get it. Eventually, they're going to get it.
