What is going on? Why are parts of the right — especially the young right — so infested with outright racists and bigots?

Some readers might respond to my question with a question: Why am I surprised? The right has always been infested with racists and bigots, you might argue. Yet while I freely acknowledge that there was more racism on the right than I was willing or able to see before the rise of Trump, there has been a distinct change in young right-wing culture. It is dramatically different from what it was when I was in college, in law school and starting my legal career.

You don't have kids do you? Kids do what they do, they don't listen, you can only influence them so much. It's like they think for themselves or something like that. That was a major pain in my ass when they were under my roof but now that they're out in public and you don't know how to deal with them I have to admit I'm having a bit of a chuckle over your question.

There isn't, this is a lie made up by the left to keep minorities living in fear of republicans in order to retain their votes.

Hell, we were the ones who freed the slaves, we passed the majority of civil rights legislation in the US, we have always been inclusive.

It wasn't until Nixon's southern strategy that the democrats were able to get blacks to side with them.

Your confusing Republicans with progressives, with what Republicans once were with what Republicans are now and have been since the "Solid Democrat South" became the "Solid Republican South". Nixon's "southern strategy" was the reverse of your idea of it; it was to exploit the fears of Southern whites over the expanding civil rights movement started in the Kennedy and Johnson years.

Blacks aren't fucking stupid and they overwhelmingly support the democrats. Who freed the slaves or who passed civil rights legislation is ancient history and meaningless. Today those who don't give a shit about any minority are what you call republicans.

Trump has repeatedly been endorsed by white supremacist groups and other far-right extremists, and they've looked to him as a source of encouragement

All true. Mostly brought on slowly over time by social Media and the Left wing press. The left has become so blinded by their learned behavior and hatred of White people that they now HONESTLY BELIEVE that openly being racist to Whites is somehow not racism. They have become mentally ill in their delusions.

That is a liberal myth.

There is absolutely NO evidence for a Nixon Southern strategy. No speeches, no campaign posters, no flyers, ... zip, zero, nada. Nixon worked with MLK to pass the FIRST cra, the 1957 CRA which was signed by Ike.

And Lee Atwater was still in High School when Nixon ran in '68.

Furthermore, way back in '36, FDR bought 75% of the Black vote and won 100% of the white lib kkk vote.
