The Laschamp event and the demise of Neanderthals

Funny to find out @Cypress claims to have worked for a petroleum company but doesn't know what vitrinite reflectance or illite crystallinity is.
See, I knew you were just obsessively trolling and not the least bit "interested" in hearing about my experiences.

You didn't ask me if I knew what vitrinite reflectance was.

You asked me if our project used it. We didn't.

The problem you have with frantically Googling for 30 seconds, is that is not nearly good enough for you to become informed on a topic --> Vitrinite reflectance is not the only method for assessing thermal maturation.

"Evolving temperature histories from apatite fission-track data"

"Thermal History Reconstruction in Sedimentary Basins using Apatite Fission-Track Analysis and Related Techniques"

Only Perry PhD and your other socks would know that

Nope. You said it in this thread.

You know you don't have to be a particularly gifted researcher to figure out you worked for a petroleum company when you tell us you worked for a petroleum company.

The only direct experience I have with paleomagnetic research was collecting field samples in the South American Andes for a paleomagnetic study. The lead scientist on the study got some money from a South American state oil company, because he convinced them there would be collateral benefits for oil exploration in that area.

No, the project was using paleomagnetic data for magnetostratigraphy.
The lead scientist sold the project to the State oil company on the basis of using paleomagnetic data to do stratigraphic correlation and age dating, and using other methods to assess the thermal evolution of the basin.

I didn't write the paper or get the oil company grant. I was just the field grunt collecting samples.

, because I can count on five fingers the number of times I've mentioned my career in 20 years on JPP, and it was never mentioned to you

Two times in this thread alone

Did you want a "gotcha"? Well, you failed.

You didn't ask me if I knew what vitrinite reflectance was.

Have you had time to google it yet?

Good job googling there. I knew it would take you a bit of time.

Actually it would be FAR more likely to use Ro and/or illite crystallinity for that but your googling ran all the way to "fission track apatite".

Tell me, Dr. Cypress, how much APATITE did you find in the mudstones? Were you using fission track?

I thought this was floodplain deposits. Lots of apatite sources there? Do tell! (I know you won't because you can't but it's fun to lead you on. Give you time to google it)

Do you have ANY clue why I might have jumped on illite crystallinity when you said "mudstone"? No?

I'm not surprised.

He has had multiple socks and multiple accounts for the last three years lol

Accusation you keep making but you are unable to back it up with any facts.

That's why you are so fascinating, Cy. You talk big but you can't EVER support your claims.

That's how I know you are lying all the time. Even about going to pick up rocks in the Andes. You aren't smart enough to even be a field monkey. They wouldn't send you out to collect samples because you wouldn't know a mudstone from a fucking dacite

Why so serious, Perry? LOL

Careful, son. Your desperation is shows every time you get angry. The more angry you become, the pettier you are. Interesting. Although you are an adult, you have the mind of a child. Were you born retarded? Did you drown and were under too long for a full recovery? Car accident with head trauma? What was it that put the mind of a child in a man's body, son?

Tell us about your NDE again. That seems to get you really ramped up.

Speaking of adults with the mind of a child.

Is that near death experience?

Yes, @Dutch Uncle claims to have had an NDE. Not surprising, people claim this a lot. But Dutch's NDE he also insists was from some event in which he was NOT near death. I asked him about it and he insisted his life wasn't in danger.

It was just so confusing and hilarious.

Dutch is a weird one. That's for certain. Ask him about it. It's truly funny. And if you make fun of it it REALLY upsets him. You'll get a firehose of his patented "memes" thrown at you. Give it a shot. It's fun.

Why does the subject disturb you so much, Perry? Do you fear death? God's judgment?

It's FUNNY! YOU are funny! You claim to be an ADULT who believes he died and went to space but at no point were you in danger of dying despite going to heaven.

You are one fucked up weirdo, my friend. I LOVE reading about your NDE. It shows you to be as childish, maybe more so, than the people you attack day in and day out.

You have a weakness. You believe in stupid shit just to make yourself feel more important. YOU went to heaven and came back! WOoooo! LOL.

It's a common turn of phrase, Dutch. Meaning everyone here in the room. Lurkers etc.

Now c'mon, tell us again about your trip to the AFTERLIFE! LOL
Only for those weak of both mind and spirit, son. You speak for all of them, Perry? Fascinating.

There it is again. Use the search function, son. It's there.

Maybe you can point me to it. I avoid communication w/ him. But I'm sure you're right about it being confusing and hilarious.

LOL.

What do YOU know about God's judgement? Oh, yeah, I fogot, YOU flew up to heaven to visit him.

LOL.

And you claim to be an adult. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Notice both how he ran from the question and his overreaction in running from it. Fascinating.

Sure thing:

Here's where he tells us about his experience:
NDE early in my Junior year of HS. I was a pure atheist before for 2-3 years. You know, the "There is no God. When you're dead, you're dead".

Afterwards I spent a few decades exploring both physical explanations and spiritual ones....along with studying altered states of consciousness in college.

So I asked some follow up questions. This is where he claims his life wasn't threatened despite his NDE and going beyond space and time:
There's no evidence of magic, the supernatural or the afterlife. It's all anecdotal. You should have gone to college, Perry. Maybe you'd have learned about this stuff.

My life wasn't threatened during the NDE.

Hallucination. I've explored the differences with altered states of consciousness.

What faith are you assuming I have, Perry?

After that he got more and more angry the more I asked about it. I'll admit, though, that I was laughing most of the time. So I was hardly being pleasant about his fantasy.

Dude, do I need to remind you that I'm an ATHEIST. So what do you think I think about "God's Judgement"?

I honestly thought you were smart enough to understand when I say I'm an atheist what that means.

Now tell us about your space trip, Katy.
